8 Last Minute Costume Ideas You Can Recreate This Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

You’ve survived midterms and now Halloween is just around the corner. Have no idea what to dress up as this year? Well, have no “fear” and consider some of these easy and not-so-scary costumes to recreate with stuff you already own or can easily pick up before your first Halloween party.

“Netflix and Chill”

You’re probably sick of the catchphrase by now, but “Netflix and Chill” has made the rounds on social media these past few months. What’s so fun about this costume is that you can team up with one of your best friends for the night. It also makes a great couple outfit, so partner up with your boyfriend or girlfriend and put your own spin on this idea.

Items Needed To Recreate:

  • 2 T-shirts (one red/one black or whatever combination you prefer)

  • Printer and Paper

  • or Markers and Glitter Glue if you’re feeling extra crafty.

With this costume you have options: you can either print out Netflix’s logo, cut it out and glue it to a t-shirt or you can simply take a marker and glitter glue and recreate the logo in your own style. For the other shirt, write the word “Chill” in marker or glitter glue.

Wear it with some leggings, jeans or a skirt with tights. This costume will work with whatever you’re comfortable in! After Halloween, keep the t-shirt for those nights you’re cuddled up in bed rewatching Grey’s Anatomy or Scandal for the 826395th time.

Vacationer

Unleash your inner tourist or “Disney Dad” with this look. With this costume, you can look like you’re ready to take on Disney World rather than trick-or-treating.

“Straight Outta Bed”

We’ve all had those days where we’re strolling up to class fresh out of bed. This costume is a fun way to laugh at ourselves as well as reference the film, Straight Outta Compton. A customizable template is available on http://www.straightouttasomewhere.com/

Items Needed To Recreate:

  • T-Shirt or PJs

  • Straight Outta Bed template (printed out or drawn)

  • Slippers

Animal Onesies

When in doubt, wear a onesie. These things are super cozy and really cute. They come in all different styles ranging from Pandas to Penguins. Shop both these looks from Forever 21.

Plush Penguin Jumpsuit from Forever 21

The best part about this costume is that you can wear it as many times as you want after Halloween! If you already own one of these, you’re already ahead of the game. Rock that onesie, girl!

Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Classic never goes out of style. Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a style icon to many, even the always-stylish Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl.
