5 Tips to Finish Out the Semester Strong

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

We are almost done with classes, and then, we have finals. In this final push until winter break, there are a few things you can do to stay level-headed, happy and strong.

Plan Chill Time

No one needs to tell you that you need to study and work hard on those term papers, but remember to take some ‘you time’ as well. When you are planning your day, set aside an hour or so for Netflix or cheesy Hallmark movies.

Keep Yourself Healthy

One of the best things you can do for your daily happiness is stay healthy. Eat some greens and throw in a 10 minute yoga routine, maybe? Wash your hands and sleep well, definitely.

Sleep!!!!

Please, please, please! Don’t spend all hours of the night studying every night. Space everything out as much as you can, and get a good night’s rest. Quality of studying over quantity of study time is my go-to rule.

Set (realistic) Goals

If you have a lot on your plate, sometimes, you can’t do everything to the best possible quality. Prioritize based on grade percentages and effort required. Then, set goals for your expectations of each of your assignments and tests.

Remind Yourself that Grades Aren’t Everything

There are few things in the world that deserve the amount of worry we put into grades, and, unfortunately for us stressed-out students, grades are not a part of that short list. Something that helps me center myself is reading the news. It is a reminder that so much is happening that has absolutely nothing to do with my history paper worth 25% of my grade. Plus, it is the end of the decade. There are tons of interesting reads and videos on what this past decade has meant.

Bonus tip: look forward to Christmas and the New Roaring ‘20s!
