5 Things We’re Hoping For In Gossip Girl’s Final Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

While some of us are sad that this is Blair and Serena’s last season on the small screen, others think Gossip Girl is long past its prime. Either way, the stars’ contracts are up and the CW has confirmed that the show’s sixth season will be its last.

When Gossip Girl first aired, Jessica Pressler and Chris Rovzar co-wrote a cover feature for New York Magazine dubbing it “The Greatest Show of Our Time.” They’ve posted episode recaps on nymag.com for every season to date, and they’ll both be making a cameo on Gossip Girl this season. Since that article was published, countless entertainment articles, both scathing and praising, have been written about the show, not to mention the dozens of magazine covers Blake Lively and Leighton Meester have secured.

Even though the show may not be as strong as it was in its first season (oh, how we miss Jenny and Vanessa!), we’re still looking forward to the outrageous plot twists we’re sure the writers have in store for us this year. If you’re as excited for the season premiere tonight at 9 p.m. as we are, read on for our top five dreams we want from our favorite Upper East Siders.

1. Blair and Nate getting back together.

Not many GG fans have spoken out in favor of Blair’s relationship with Brooklynite Dan Humphrey, and we’re hoping their relationship isn’t a lasting one. While his bringing her to the steps of the Met in her ballgown was admittedly adorable, it’s still difficult not to see Dan as the pretentious scholar he became after his book was published. And while many fans love Chuck Bass, it’s hard to justify a relationship with someone whose record includes violence and rape attempts, which leaves Blair with Nate. They were perfect together in the first seasons, and their relationship seems much more fitting than Blair’s with either of the other two male leads. Remember when she sewed her jewelry heart into Nate’s sweater so he’d always have her heart on his sleeve? Aw!

2. Taylor Momsen and Connor Paolo’s return.

Jenny and Eric are always conveniently in England or other parts of the country since Momsen left the show to pursue her music career and Paolo landed a role on Revenge, but it’d still be nice to see the other family members one last time, at least in the final episode.

3. Cece van der Woodsen alive.

If Bart Bass can be resurrected from the dead, why can’t Cece? Her death last season seemed so sudden, and if she were still around it would solve the will situation with Ivy Dickens.

4. An apology from Lily.

Lily van der Woodsen went off the deep end in the last few seasons, forging Serena’s signature on a fake rape charge and accusing Rufus of spending her money, despite the fact that “her” money is from her marriage with Bart. She’s done innumerable things to damage her relationship with her family, and we’d love to see her come to a realization about how important family and friends really are.

5. Serena and Dan back together.

If Rufus and Lily really are split up for good–and with Bart around, it seems like they might be–it makes Serena and Dan’s relationship a whole lot less awkward. She’s been after him for years, and with all of their history they really do seem like a compatible match. Remember how sweet their relationship was in the high school days?
