I’m new to being a Bard in Dungeons and Dragons, and the hardest thing about it is coming up with new creative stuff to say. I want to be that chaotic Bard protecting my friend with ridiculous songs and phrases. I refuse to be lame and just hit my teammates with an “I said something inspiring” and be done with it. Coming up with and saying new phrases, though, can be challenging after the fifth or sixth session. Here are a few phrases to help you during your next meeting.

For Bardic Inspiration

(For reference, I am also a Wood Elf.)

Comrades, you think we have lost. No Fear!

For the woods beneath us, jeer and cheer.

A sound of victory escapes the leaves.

With this, I trick you to believe,

That I can predict an outcome by ear.

I’m a bard, not a seer.

So, I’ll sit here and toast a beer,

To a victory that remains unclear.

For Charm

A darted glance, hands touching by happenstance.

Oh darling, how boring, I didn’t even have to chase.

You came running into my arms.

I welcome you like I’ve welcomed many

With fading kiss and trick of the hand.

You played perfectly into my plan.

For Intimidation

Just what I expect from someone of your class,

Spewing out utter nonsense just trying to distract from your disgusting odorous gas.

Where are your parents, your comrades, brothers, sisters?

Did they too grow sick of your blither?

Can you even hear me over your drooling?

Because I don’t honestly know who you think you’re fooling?

No one thinks you’re smart or have valor.

They all just want you to take a shower.

I just want you to sit down and tell me something useful,

And then maybe, finally, you’ll earn someone’s approval.

Hopefully this can be helpful in your campaign, and if not, just keep them in your back pocket for later! You can never have too many poems as a Bard.
