24 Hours in Durham, NC

Voted the fourth best place to live in the United States by U.S. News, Durham, NC has grown in popularity. A less than 15 minute drive from Chapel Hill, Durham is a great place to spend the day. Here are the spots you don’t want to miss:

Morning:

 

There are so many great coffee shops and breakfast options in Durham, but one of the best is Rise Donuts. Maple bacon bar, crème brûlée and apricot bulls eye with nutella are just a few of the nontraditional donuts they have along with the best homemade biscuits.

 

After breakfast, head over to the Durham Farmers Market located in Durham Central Park. Local farmers sell fresh produce, flowers and more. If you need a coffee fix, Cocoa Cinnamon is right around with the corner and was voted one of the best coffee shops in the country by Food Network.

 

Afternoon:

 

After looking at and buying fresh produce, head over to Dames Chicken & Waffles for lunch. Yes, they serve fried chicken over various kinds of waffles. Come hungry because it’s sure to fill you up.

 

Walk off lunch at Duke Gardens, a beautiful 55 acres located by Duke University’s campus. It’s a great spot to read a book by the pond or admire the rose garden.

Night:

 

After a relaxing afternoon in the gardens, grab a drink and listen to music at Full Steam Brewery. Full Steam brews its own beer and food trucks frequent often and park outside. Some of Durham’s best include Only Burger, Parlez-Vous Crepe and Chriba Chriba Dumpling.

 

While in Durham if you have a chance be sure to check out a show at the Durham Performing Arts Center or catch a AAA baseball game with the Durham Bulls. Both are sure to conclude a amazing day in Durham.
