The 11 Struggles of Living with a Roommate as Told by Jessica Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

In college, we all have to live with roommates, possibly for the first time in our lives. Love them or hate them, it’s a new experience that can be summed up pretty well by Jessica Day of New Girl!

1) When you first move in together and every night for the first week feels like a slumber party.

2) When she comes home at 3 a.m. from a party and decides turning on the light is okay.

3) When she decides to face-time her boyfriend all night long and all you’re trying to do is get some sleep.

4) When you both share dishes but she refuses to do hers.

5) When she tells you her boyfriend is coming for the weekend…. And he is staying in your dorm.

6) When it’s just one of those days and you have nowhere else to go.

7) WHEN SHE EATS YOUR LEFTOVERS YOU’VE BEEN CRAVING ALL DAY

8) When you are the one ALWAYS cleaning the room and taking out the trash but you don’t know how to tell her it would be nice of her to help out once in a while.

9) When she walks in on you belting Wicked at the top of your lungs.

10) When there are two weeks left of school and you run out of meals swipes.

11) When you get in a fight but all you want to do is fix it because she is your best friend.

Sure, she gets on your nerves sometimes, but you wouldn’t trade her for the world. (And maybe you’re guilty of one or two of these things yourself.) So break out the Ben & Jerry’s in front of a New Girl marathon and enjoy some quality time with the roomie!
