Favourites

Favourite Band: That’s a really hard question, I have so many! Probably Slipknot, A Day to Remember and Green Day. My Girlfriend also recently introduced me to CoCo and the Butterfields who I am obsessed with!

Favourite TV Show: Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes, without a doubt.

Favourite Colour: Blue.

Favourite Movie: The Day After Tomorrow, although Moulin Rouge is my guilty pleasure.

Favourite University Memory so far: Standing on the rooftop at 8am after drinking for 24 hours singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the top of our lungs.

So now that you’ve finished your second year, do you have any plans for Summer?

I’ll probably be working for most of it – but it’s my Nan and Grandad’s 50th Wedding Anniversary this year so we have a family holiday to Cyprus booked, I’ve also got a weekend in Brighton planned. It’s also my 20th birthday so probably some drinking to celebrate that!

You’re known for being a good cook, getting the nickname ‘Little Chef’; what’s your favourite thing to cook?

I actually really enjoy cooking a curry – tikka masala usually.

And your favourite thing for someone to cook you?

Kleftiko – it’s a Greek dish as my Grandad is from Cyprus. It’s so, so nice.

What’s your favourite thing to eat? Cooked by anyone, anywhere?

Mum’s home cooked roast chicken – with all of the trimmings. Especially Yorkshire puddings and thick gravy!!

Where’s your favourite place to eat out?

I recently went to ‘The Cuban’ in Canterbury for Valentines day with my girlfriend – we had Feta cheese wrapped in ham, steak medallions with a mash potato and an Oreo cheesecake. It’s probably the best place I’ve eaten in Canterbury.

Finally, what advice do you have for student cooks?

  1. Check it before you bite it – if it’s PINK, it’s NOT cooked, so don’t eat it!
  2. You pay for what you get – just because it’s Smartprice and it’s cheap doesn’t mean that it will taste nice!
  3. Recipe books are your best friend!
  4. Be adventurous – everything in your cupboard will contribute to a good meal.
