The Big Bang Theory has been granted three more years on our screens (Season 2016-2017). “Comedy is a big part of our schedule, and The Big Bang Theory is the biggest comedy force on television,” said CBS Entertainment Chairman, Nina Tassler, in a statement. The sitcom, which first aired in 2007, is one of the most popular US TV Sitcoms out there today. With over 19m viewers, the show has been rated No1 since the 2010-2011 season.

So what’s happened so far? (SPOILER ALERT)

  • Four scientists had their world turned upside down when they met Penny, an aspiring actor and waitress at the Cheesecake Factory.
  • Leonard spent a long time trying to date Penny, and eventually got there – to everyone’s surprise.
  • Howard met Bernadette – a microbiologist and eventually married her (Shocking, we know).
  • Sheldon meets Amy (Shamy) through a dating website, and they enter The Relationship Agreement (They kiss in Season 7)
  • Howard became an Astronaut, and never shuts up about it.
  • Raaj (in Season 7) starts talking to girls, and owns a dog called Cinnamon that he treats like his girlfriend.
