Hello! I am Georgina – one of the newest members to CCCU’s ‘Her Campus’ and I am so excited to be involved!

I am about to be a fresher down in Canterbury in a couple of weeks and this post is telling you guys whether or not I am actually prepared for this… And the answer? …

Kind of! A little bit! Maybe!

I have already prepared a fair bit by getting numerous items that are packed in the corner of my room – bedding, plates, coat hangers… It’s coming together nicely! I have found that my favourite place for getting bits and bobs in ASDA. Cheap and cheerful that supermarket: gives you everything you need!

I got these bright red plates for £10! What’s good about getting so many is that I only have to keep a couple in my flat: I’d then leave the rest at home for emergencies! (It was cheaper than getting separates!)

I also got this handy set of tupperware for a small amount of pennies too! Advice from my friends already at university was that tupperware will be your best friend. Whether you’re already at university or you’ve just started it’s a definitely recommendation from me! Make a huge lasagne or a big chilli and chop it into yummy portions to freeze, then you know you have decent meals all prepared for yourself, by yourself!

Where to get your essentials from?

I’m so excited to find out my timetable, I am an extremely organised person and I’ve bought a whiteboard (from Rymans) to be extra prepared. Plus I love whiteboards and doodling!

Another preparation item I purchased was my diary, again once I get my timetable I can fill in certain bits to keep me super organised – I’ve got a full day per page because I want to make sure I have room for notes that I need to remember and all those important deadlines! (And my birthday… hehe!)

I also feel like I should be prepared mentally for this big transition from sixth form to university, from North to South, and leaving my comfy home to a fresh new place with people I don’t know!

I’m ready for all those things as I am in need for a change and I am really eager to start learning my course!

Saying this I am still so nervous to be away from everyone and thing in York, it’s going to be strange! Then again, Canterbury is almost identical to my hometown – it’s got a Cathedral, an Archbishop and the cutest little streets and shops. I cannot believe I will be moving away in less than three weeks.

How prepared were you guys for university?

Over the next few weeks I’m going to blog more about my preparations, my big move and my week at freshers – which I don’t know if I’ll survive but you guys will of course be one of the first to know!
