In the year 2012, female rapper, Tink, blessed us with her first ever Winter’s Diary. This was her first mixtape, and it included songs such as “Bonnie” and “Can I.”  Even though she is a rapper, this mixtape was filled with R&B ballads. Her following mixtapes have been a mix of both her rap and R&B styles. In 2014, she released Winter’s Diary 2: Forever Yours which hosts one of her most known songs, “Treat Me Like Somebody.”  This was most likely the doorway to millions recognizing her talent, because it seemed like every girl on twitter tweeted those lyrics. When Tink said… well really the whole song could be quoted because WE ALL FELT THAT and if you haven’t, you will one day (it’s a part of life, you’ll survive).

Anyways, in the following two years she has released Winter’s Diary 3 and Winter’s Diary 4. Each year the content got better and even more relatable. Each year she has had so many girls around the nation blowing up Instagram and Twitter with quotes and Snapchat with the lip-syncing. These “diaries” will really have you feeling heart broken, in love, confused, bossing up on these boys by the time you get done listening to one mixtape. She really makes music for all of the ladies to come together. Even if you have never been cheated on, some of her songs will have you second guessing yourself. When the topic of the diaries comes up, it is often that my peers say that she is nice to listen to on a rainy day and that she resonates with their heart.

Considering Tink seemed to be consistent with the diaries, all of her fans waited all year long for a Winter’s Diary 5. As the temperatures dropped, we were ready to get in our feelings. We were ready to have a few mood swings. We were ready to start get on Rap Genius to study the lyrics. We were ready. The months passes by… still no music and then next thing you know, it’s 2018. Approximately, from October to December fans went to twitter with their concerns. Basically, everybody was confused because how is it full blown winter… but there’s no diary?? The fans have waited all year long just for sis to forget to write a few entries? Maybe she was going through something but I mean… that’s what the diary is for. Honestly, I thought that maybe she retired without telling us but then I heard that she performed at Tuskegee University’s homecoming, so she must be okay.

Towards the end of December, she started dropping hints about new music. Finally, it seemed like a #5 was on the way. She even gave a snippet of a song on her Instagram story to hype the fans up even more. On January 5, 2018, Tink posted that new music was going to be coming the following week. The following week came and there was new music, but there was no diary. More like one entry. Sis really made us wait all 2017 and a few days into 2018 for one song. The song, “Breakin Me”, is a bop and because of it, she was a trending topic on Twitter (#4 to be exact). The gesture was appreciated, but it wasn’t enough. It’s still cold outside, so hopefully this was her way of saying “wait, there’s more”. Tink ,we love you girl, but what’s a winter with no diary? We need to be blessed with a #5 ASAP.
