Tyler White, The Super RA with a Masterplan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CAU chapter.

Name: Tyler White

Hometown: Baltimore, MD by way of Natchez, MS

Classification: Senior

Major: Dual Engineering and Mathematics with a concentration in Architectural and Civil Engineering

IG: @sir.king.leo

Dream job: Entrepreneur by owning my own architectural firm

Top of bucket list: To be on the Forbes 500 List

What/who inspires you? Great-grandparents because they told me to be the best I can be at any time and being the best RA as possible.

One thing you can’t leave the house without: A smile because I’m always laughing regardless of any situation. Every day I try to leave the house with positive energy and a smile.

Short-term goals: Finish college with both degrees and attend a master’s program

Long-term goals: Be one of the top entrepreneurs in my industry and create the next wonders of the world

Celebrity crush: Ledisi and Jill Scott because I love their down-to-earth soul music and oar about them.

Favorite quote: To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late and to be late is just unacceptable

Hobbies: Drawing, cooking (well-known chef of the AUC lol), sleeping (favorite of all time), shopping and styling

Favorite hangout spot: Depends on the environment and where I’m at. In Baltimore, TGI Fridays. Atlanta, Buckhead and Midtown. Mississippi, my neighborhood

Why CAU? CAU was my second choice because NCA&T was my first choice. I chose CAU because it was something about the school drawn me to come here.

Organizations on campus: 1st Attendant to Man of the Year (14-15), Living in Green, NSBE, CAU Worship Choir, Every pageant and coordinator on campus, Homecoming Chairperson. Just about every club you could think of I’ve been on it and then some. I’m that go-to for plugs if you need help getting in one.

Something no one knows: I’m a quiet person. I talk to a lot of people and know a lot of people but I enjoy peace and quiet by myself.

One piece of advice: Be happy. It’s hard striving to be happy. You can have the job that you want, but do what makes you happy at the end of the day.

What/who inspired you to become an R.A.: I’ve always been a hard worker so I wanted to give an extended hand to the future CAU panthers and that’s what I wanted to do.

You are called the “Super RA” and there must be something exciting or interesting having this position. What is it having that title for so long and not quitting: I’m an efficient and effective person. I have a strategic plan of how I coordinate my job. I take everything with a grain of salt because I make sure I’m making sure everyone’s safety is in good hands. I’m not afraid to step on anyone’s toes by any means, but that’s how it supposed to go.

Congratulations on your acceptance to North Carolina A&T for their dual degree engineering program. Can you elaborate what you will be doing with your degree: I’ll be finishing my Math degree at CAU and continuing my extension to NCA&T on Engineering. Once I’m finished, I’ll be starting on my career. Right now, I’m taking (Renovations Rehab-bringing back history to the neighborhoods that currently or previously existed.)

You are the founder of the King’s Men Alliance. What is your program about, what is its mission for the organization and what has your program done within the past year? It came from my platform; (Return of the KINGS) Knowledgeable Intellectual Noble Gentlemen of Sophistication. I refer to myself as a King, so no matter what society says every man is a king. Here at CAU, we don’t have a lot of male figures on campus and I wanted to bring self-awareness. Partnering with my RAs in my building, we hosted our 3rd annual Thanksgiving Dinner. We had a seminar on SMART goals-what they hope to achieve when graduating. I also have a Goals of Objective Program- guys don’t really talk about how they feel so we discuss and write what’s really going on.

Spring Break plans: Maybe Miami or Las Vegas. Where ever it takes me.

Greatest memory of 2015: March-finally hit me that I was senior, I was cleared via email that I can sign up for classes and my niece 1st birthday she’s just a ball of joy.

Homecoming or founders week: Homecoming because I was behind the scenes the whole time so I got to see what happened and receive feedback what can we improve on.

Fast food or soul food: Soul Food because I love to cook. I have people who also cook because I don’t taste my own food so I have people who have a good taste palette and just have a good time.

What does black history mean to you: Black history means black excellence. I celebrate black history; ‘black history month’ doesn’t really mean anything because we were incorporated into history and we created monumental things for our country.

Best memory at CAU: Freshman year-hanging on the promenade and hanging in Merner Hall being the King of Merner. Meet new friends that turn to friendships to sisterhood and brotherhood.

As a senior, what legacy do you want to leave? I feel like I left a legacy of hard work and dedication. I’ve done a lot on campus where people come to me for any help whatsoever. From helping remodel the cafeteria to negotiating contracts to fixing the end of the promenade, I can truly say I’ve done a lot as a future CAU Alumnus because it’s always good to do a lot for your school now and when you graduate because this becomes a part of your home.
