Must See Collections For 2021 New York Fashion Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CAU chapter.

We are finally upon one of the busiest months of the fashion year, which is called “Fashion Month.” For fashion insiders, this is a stressful and exhilarating month filled with clothes, events and fashion shows. “Fashion Month” includes New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week. A new addition to Fashion Month for the first time is the Met Gala as well.

The first event on the Fashion Month calendar is New York Fashion Week. New York Fashion Week is one of the most famous out of all of the events during fashion month. It will will be taking place from Sep 8 to Sep 12. Many designers this year will be presenting during this NYFW due to not being able to last year because of COVID-19.

This year’s Fashion Week schedule is compact and loaded with some brands that do not get the recognition that they deserve. Additionally, these particular luxury brands are innovative and changing their aesthetic and vibe for the better. So, even though I’m excited to see the smaller luxury brands show off their latest collections, I’m also interested in seeing what the more prominent brands will provide to the fashion girls and boys this week.

With that being said, let me tell you which brands, in particular, I’m anticipating seeing.

Peter Do

Peter Do is a newer brand in the fashion industry and is known for its structured designs, pleated skirts, layered clothing and neutral tones. The fashion label’s aesthetic aligns heavily with what many fashion girls are going for these days. After this fashion week, many celebrities and influencers will be hopping on the brand and wearing it for every Instagram photoshoot.

Dundas

For me, Dundas is a brand that changes the collection’s vibe every time while also keeping it’s authentic “aesthetic.” A lot of Dundas pieces exude Hollywood Glamour which is why I am fascinated with the luxury brand.

LaPointe

The love that I have for LaPointe is out of this world. Their clothing is always so sleek and chic and true to their brand. LaPointe’s last Fall 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection featured a lot of silk fabrics and beautifully tailored jackets. LaPointe utilized muses such as Grace Jones and Bianca Jagger for their previous collection, so I’m excited to see who they will be referencing for their collection for NYFW.

LaQuan Smith

LaQuan Smith should be considered the new age “it girl” fashion brand. The luxury fashion label provides clothing pieces for the glamorous girls, the one who loves to be daring and who are down to wear anything. The brand’s last two collections have wowed me, so I expect the following collection to be viral-worthy.

Coach

The fashion brand Coach resort 2022 collection was a literal dream for me. This is due to the fact that I’m a sucker for outerwear, and that’s what their collection consisted of. They always include a lot of colors and unique graphics within their pieces and I’m sure during NYFW, they will be providing a lot of that.

Tom Ford Tom Ford brings sexy to the runway every time, and I know during the 2021 NYFW that they will do it. Their last Fall 2021 Ready-to-Wear collection radiated New York City Party girl vibes and I’m hoping they will keep that vibe up. I’m a Tom Ford stan, so I know his next collecti
