We’re on two months in the year and artists all over are blessing us with either their new song, mixtape or album, just time for our Spring Break playlist! One artist in particular, Jacquees, has once again released a new mixtape called “Since You Playin” as his second mixtape under rapper, Birdman’s Cash Money Records label. The 22-year old is bringing back his R&B and soul flare with some heavy hitters such as Tank, Tory Lanez and Ty-Dolla $ign while incorporating Quavo from Migos and Birdman for the hip-hop edge on a couple of tracks. While we are still awaiting his first official album that will be released later on in the year, we are fortunate enough to still get new music from him at any given moment.

If you haven’t been well equipped to Jacquees, then I would suggest going back to first mixtapes and EP to recollect yourselves. He has evolved as an artist and this mixtape is the perfect one to be laced on for 2017. From his teenage years from Decatur, GA to now as one of our favorite R&B artists hitting the airwaves with popular songs such as ” Come Thru”, “Persian Rugs” and “B.E.D” just to name a few are some of the reasons why we love him. He begins the mixtape with an introduction song called Just the Intro as a continuation from his previous mixtape Mood where it was a feel-good and chill session mixtape for us college students to listen to on a daily basis. The tracklist continues and has one of popular songs “B.E.D.” where he featured Quavo and Ty-Dolla $ign for “B.E.D. pt 2” because everyone loved the first one. He even collaborated with Tory Lanez for this mixtape and even Lanez own mixtape, Chixtape 4 and they each brought that edge, but sensual mood to the track.

10-4, My Bizness, and Won’t Waste Your Time are my top three favorites because these songs are the ones that represent Jacquees as an R&B singer and his lyrics discover being with that special person and enjoying their company. These tracks are also great for Valentine’s Day playlist with your significant other and having an evening of love and appreciation of one another. The soulful sounds and vibing beats producer, Nash B used meshed well and created lovely tracks for this mixtape. Overall, Since You Playin is not a mixtape you want to sleep on in 2017 because Jacquees continues to bring the heat and he never fails to give us a fire project for us to listen to.
