As many would like to say that dropping out will cure the common cold however, it is obvious that the money spent on tuition is not worth it. As we are young adults who have unanswered questions and untouched steps of succession, it becomes easy to lose track of ourselves and catch the “common cold of college”. The common cold has symptons like not being able to go to class, no longer having the drive to do your work or worrying about the effect that it will have on your GPA. The common cold of college can be explained as depression. College is a new stage in life that most are not able to prepare for even with the amount of life advice parents give to their students.

The common cold of college cure does not literally have one remedy as the situation can be handled in many ways. The first step in curing yourself is allowing others in, no one should ever go through anything alone. It is only a minor fall back for a major come up! After letting others in you must realize why you caught the common cold and what the intial problems are that made you sick. The situation itself can be overwhelming with the thought of being lost and there not being an actual cure to your illness. However, as we all tend to forget that we are not the first to go through such situations and our elders are always willing to lend an ear to listen.

Letting others in to hear your problems might not be the end of your problems as one might need someone professional to talk to. As college students, we seem to forget that being on campus, resources as such as provided at no cost. The common cold can have long term effects such as a lifetime of unhappiness if it goes untreated, it is best to seek help. The common cure is depression as the ambition and drive to succeed becomes less and sleeping in becomes a daily routine.

If letting others in and talking to someone professional seems intimidating it is also okay to google your problems and may be research your symptons in order to do a self diagonis. As research articles give answers as to how to cure yourself and reading stories of others on how they overcame their depression can be motivation that your common cold will become cured. The common cold of college effects every college student, the only difference being that each student is effected differently whether specific events occur or a simple “I don’t know what’s wrong anymore”. Everyone deserves to feel better within their college experience when suffering from the common cold whether that is talking to friends or silently researching for your own cure, it is okay to not feel okay! As long as you are acknowledging the fact that you are not in your right mindset and you want to be better, everything will get better. As all things come within time do not set yourself up for failure by rushing your process of change. The entire point of catching the common cold of college is to find yourself as a person and who you will become in your adult life. The awkward stage of life just happens to be when we are all in college and by doing so we seem to forget that we are still young and we will go through many cycles before knowing who we truly are. However, when you finally find your purpose, you will appreciate the stages you went through before and become a strong woman!
