The first week of September at New York Fashion Week Rihanna released her Fenty Puma SS18 (Spring Summer 2018) line. The show opened with flying motorcycles foreshadowing the overall look of the collection. The pieces themselves look like a combination of sexy,surfer,motorcycle chicness. The ready to wear collection is full of vibrant colors and various textiles representing a fun take on the summer to come. Below are the top looks that stood out to me and my reasoning behind my attitude towards them.
The oversized windbreakers are unisex and are perfect pieces for cool and rainy spring weather. The navy blue shades are dull compared to a majority of the collection but were complimented by the neon accents on the jackets. The neon flip flops stand out in particular because they are heels! These shoes reflect Rihanna’s individuality in the fashion world along with her bold take on ready to wear clothing. The see through mini dress is bound to be a fan favorite. It embodies bold,sexy,femininity which is a major essence of millennial fashion choices.
The orange outfits followed the navy blue and instantly lit up the runway. These outfits were mainly geared towards Spring wear. I particularly love the plastic set in the first picture because the material stands out amongst what was previously shown along with the other orange looks. The seatbelt textures added onto the skirt make the look more dimensional than just a typical latex set. The Puma motorcycle pants are one of the stand out pieces within the whole collection,they sum up the athletic edgy aesthetic paired with comfortability in
the form of windbreaker pant.
This next set includes outfits from three different parts of the line color wise. The all white outfit is specifically dope because of the mesh detailing on the swimsuit that is perfect for summer beach days. The shorts seem to be made out of a towel material with puma engravings,making the look stand out tenfold. The next outfit is the antithesis of the beach outfit placed before it. It is edgy motorcycle chic like a majority of the collection. The heavy leather knee highs are the staple of this look as they embody the collection as well as Rihanna’s personal taste. The last outfit that caught my eye in the collection is the motorcycle suit paired with a clear windbreaker and neon booties. The fluorescent colors compliment each other perfectly. The look itself reflects an edgy rainy day in which you’re ready to strut through puddles and stunt on everyone around you.
Overall the collection embodies ferienecess. The bright line is summer/spring ready. Rihanna is currently dominating the beauty/fashion industry with her creative concepts. NYFW wasn’t ready.
