Daniel Caesar: Freudian

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CAU chapter.

Freudian: relating to or influenced by neurologist and psychotherapist Sigmund Freud and his methods of psychoanalysis, especially with reference to the importance of sexuality in human behavior.Canadian R&B sensation Daniel Caesar’s “Get You” was such a big hit, I couldn’t turn my head without hearing it somewhere. He certainly did not disappoint with Freudian, his first full album and end of the summer album that is a MUST listen for any R&B-soul-lovey dovey-type music lover.

Freudian is filled with both breakup songs and love songs, going from “You don’t love me anymore,” in “We Find Love,” to “Yes, I’m a mess, but I’m blessed to be stuck with you,” in “Blessed.” While each track sounds completely different, they each give off the same vibe. Caesar manages to make music that has a familiar feel to it, yet manages to sound like no one else. His choices to feature both H.E.R. and Syd on this album only add fuel to the fire. In my book, he is becoming the harmonization king because of his skill to harmonize effortlessly with both him self and his song features. It’s hard to stop listening to such a beautifully soothing sound, meaning this album will be on repeat for months.

My faves: “Best Part” ft. H.E.R., “Neu Roses (Transgressors Song)
