As 2025 comes to a close, people are already thinking about goals for the next year. Reading a book is a great way to disconnect from social media, and it’s a beneficial activity for your brain. If you’re trying to get into reading more frequently, here are some book recommendations.

Only for the week- Natasha Bishop

If you’re looking for a romance novel with a little bit of drama, this is the book for you. Only for the Week is about a woman named Janelle Cross. Janelle’s sister is having a destination wedding in Tulum. While on this vacation, Janelle develops feelings for the best man, Rome Martin, who proposes that they should explore their connection. Janelle agrees, but the catch is that their affair can only last a week! If you are interested in seeing how this story unfolds, it’s only 240 pages. This will be such an easy read to add to your list.

Becoming- Michelle Obama

If you’re looking for something a little more impactful and motivational, Michelle Obama delivers that. The woman we know as the first African American First Lady of the United States offers a memoir that is so much deeper than this. Becoming offers a raw reflection of Michelle Obama’s life. She dives into her childhood in Chicago, balancing motherhood and work, and some of the hardships she faced with her husband, President Barack Obama. This memoir is about advocating for women and inspiring them to live authentically.

Milk and honey- Rupi Kaur

If you’re looking for a simple read that doesn’t require much from you, Milk and Honey is a good place to start. This compilation of poems is straightforward to follow. Although it’s simple, the subject matter is very emotional and raw. Each poem touches on topics like love, heartbreak, healing, and growth. Rupi Kaur is able to write in a way that makes you reflect on your own journey in life. One of the key takeaways is to find the beauty in everything, and this book is beautifully written.

These are three great books to add to your collection and start your reading journey. Not everything you read has to be boring or intellectual. If you take the time, you can find books that genuinely pique your interest. Hopefully, these recommendations start you on a good track. Happy reading!
