5 Ways to Enjoy Your Staycation!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CAU chapter.

So it’s the week before Spring Break, and you’re stuck on campus with no plans. It’s too easy to wallow in your sorrows, because you’re bored. Check out these neat ways to really enjoy your staycation on campus!

1. Community Service. Why not spend your break by giving back to your community? Not only can helping out in the community be fun, but it can also be a great networking opportunity, plus, I’m sure you’ll feel great afterwards! Go out and volunteer at a food bank or even at the Boys & Girls Club.

2. Explore Hotlanta! Many AUC students forget that there is a whole city out there, past these gates. Don’t have a car? No problem! There are campus shuttles, and also public transportation available to help you get around town. Go to the ferris wheel, the mall, or even try some new restaurants.

3. Read a book. I know what you’re thinking: This is supposed to be a break from books! But you would be surprised how much pleasure can come from reading a nice novel, and there are so many genres to choose from. Pick your poison: romance, comedy, non-fiction, sci-fi…the list goes on! Just indulge in some time to yourself and a good book.

4. Spring Cleaning. This may not sound like the most fun way to send your staycation, but tidying up around your living space can really make you feel at peace and in control! Your room probably looks like a tornado after midterms week so why not take this opportunity to straighten up a little bit and maybe even re-arrange your room!

5. Homework. Of course this is the least appealing option, but hey! Getting a head start on next week’s assignments will help remove a lot of unwanted stress in the long run, and what could be more fun than that? Getting a head start on that project or assignment now can really help out once classes start back and things get hectic.
