Milan Fashion Week 2024: Versace brings a fashionable punk rock style to the runaway

Versace’s 2024 Fall collection is the most assertive and remarkable show Donatella Versace has made in a while. She brought ideas of her conception without losing the brand’s essence by combining tailoring with leather fabrics and checkered prints, keeping the color palette in red, black, and brown.

Besides playing with the idea of a “punk” mindset during all the show, the soundtrack by Siouxsie Sioux added to the edgy atmosphere. The Italian brand makes one of the best shows during Fall time.

Donatella herself mentioned the idea of rebel girls and punk/rock energy at a press conference before the fashion show. It became notable due to the striking eyeliner and spiky hair of the models before they hit the runway.

But the elegance of a haute couture brand and Versace’s recognized sensuality were still often highlighted by long black dresses with side slits, styled or not with delicate white collars, little cherry red and black handbags, leather gloves, tweeds meticulously designed with crystals and striped cuts. Even so, some torn sweaters – in more of a casual style – made two appearances.

A mention of the iconic jacket made by Versace to Prince couldn’t go unnoticed as the singer had a special collaboration with the brand for years. The tribute this time was marked by the jackets with front buttons in the new collection. Remembering that at the Milan 2016 Show, the soundtrack brought new and fresh songs by the singer, never released before.

The luxurious long dresses with colorful animal prints were also part of the fashion show, remembering the Versace golden era when Gianni Versace was still their main designer.

Although times are different today, the brand is still on the world’s highest fashion shelf and if it continues to deliver such striking and iconic collections with its style, it will remain there for a long time to come.
