It is inevitable not to be affected by the external events that happened in society. Conflicting political, social and economic scenarios can influence the way that we face our lifetime. In this context, sometimes it is usual the loss of faith in a better future or in ourselves.

One alternative to this internal conflict is to be attached on some messages of confidence, and music can be a refuge for those who need this. If you are looking for a bit of hope, here are some songs you should listen to. Check it out:

1. Try, by P!nk

On 2012, the North American singer, P!nk, released the album The Truth About Love. One of the songs of this project was Try. It became one of the artist’s huge successes, hitting the top 10 at the Billboard Hot 100 on February 2013.

At first sight, the song is about continuing to believe in love and in the existence of good relationships despite a heartbroken. But the most important message from this song runs through the broken heart zone, consolidating it as a note of never giving up and not losing hope:

“But just because it burns doesn’t mean you’re gonna die/ You gotta get up and try, and try, and try”

“Try”, by P!nk

2. AmarElo, by Emicida

The Brazilian rapper Emicida tries, in his songs, to discuss and to report the racial and social inequalities and other injustices that can be found on the roots of the construction of Brazil.

In AmarElo, it’s not different. With the participation of Majur and Pablo Vittar, Emicida stands up a positive message of empowerment and strength for those who feel excluded and oppressed. The song emerged as a hymn of faith in the country, being proud of diversity and hoping towards future and an inclusive society.

This hopeful scream of faith in the future can be found in some powerful quotes of the song’s lyrics:

“Tenho sangrado demais/ Tenho chorado pra cachorro/ Ano passado eu morri/ Mas esse ano eu não morro”, “Pra que amanhã não seja só um ontem com um novo nome” and “Permita que eu fale, não as minhas cicatrizes/ Elas são coadjuvantes, não, melhor, figurantes/ Que nem devia tá aqui”

“AmarElo”, by Emicida

3. Don’t Stop Believin’, by Journey

Don’t Stop Believin’, one of the most significant hits of the band Journey, was first broadcasted in 1981. Despite being a release from the 80’s, this music is an icon that still makes success through generations.

Beyond the immersive and catchy rhythm, the message around Don’t Stop Believin’ is really appealing for the public. Based on the motivation to move on, surpassing the challenges that we face in life, it is a clear statement toward hope in a better future and to not give up:

Some will win/ some will lose/ Some were born to sing the blues/ Oh, the movie never ends/ It goes on and on and on” and “Don’t stop believin’/ Hold on to that feelin’”

“Don’t Stop Believin'”, by Journey

4. I Want To Break Free, by Queen

One of the most famous songs of the British band Queen, I Want to Break Free was written by the bass player, John Deacon, and was released in 1984 at the album The Works.

The main point of the song is about freedom and how someone with difficulties in life is trying to get free of them. This music is important because it stands for a message that we shouldn’t be taken in by our problems and that they can’t impact our life as a whole. The liberty in the face of problems should be a seeked wish:

“God knows, God knows I want to break free”

“I Want to Break Free”, by Queen

5. Juice, by Lizzo

Lizzo is a North American singer that usually spreads in her songs and speeches a message of female empowerment and valorization of beauty – despite of the standards imposed by society.

In Juice this is not different, as we can see in the music’s quotes:

If I’m shinin’, everybody gonna shine (yeah, I’m goals)/ I was born like this, don’t even gotta try (now you know)/ I’m like Chardonnay, get better over time (so you know)”

“Juice”, by Lizzo

The song is about the faith in the self-confidence. This message is important to the public, since it aims to spread an idea of power and that all types of beauty have to be valued, helping them to recover the hope in themselves.

Some moments in life are really hard to face due to external facts that rage society. So here is the list of five songs that you should listen to if you need to recover faith in the future. Hope you enjoy it!
