This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Casper Libero chapter.

Have you ever heard about the Vladimir Herzog Journalistic Award? It is one of the most important Brazilian journalism prizes which, annually, acknowledges work that enhances democracy and human rights.

Promoted and organized by a committee made up of twelve institutions, this year’s edition accepted productions under six categories: art (illustrations, editorial cartoons, cartoons, caricatures and cartoon strips published either in print or online), photography (photographs or a series of photographs published in print or online), journalistic texts (reports or published text in print or online), audio journalism (audio report or documentary), video journalism (video report or documentary) and multimedia journalism (multimedia reports published on the internet).

Multimedia

“Sem Direitos – O Rosto da Exclusão Social no Brasil” (“No Rights – The Face of Social Exclusion in Brazil”) is the name of a series of reports about the Brazilian people who live without any guarantee of basic rights which won the prize in 2019.
