A few months ago Paramount released the first trailer of Baby Driver: A few minutes of pure adrenaline accompanied by incredible songs that make us restless. The trailer is promising, but it also makes us think “is it really that the movie is all it seems to be?”. After some trailers, the comments were great and expectations were already high, but only on July 27th, finally, we could feel the excitement of the “uproots” of Baby, the driver.
The story is simple, Baby (Ansel Elgort) is a talented escape pilot who listens to music all the time to relieve the “buzz” in his ear, caused by a car accident as a child. Although great, what makes the film so vibrant and exciting is not the plot, it’s the songs!
The first scene begins with a classic. To show that we’re on the right track and ready for the rest of the movie, the alternative blues of the ’90s, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion’s “Bellbottoms,” invades the movie room along with the presence of the protagonist Baby in a perfect synchrony that leaves us almost without reaction.
All the scenes throughout the film are filled with music, every detail fits into the beats, the scenarios, the surreal maneuvers and the characters enter into the choreography of the killer soundtrack that the film presents. From a quiet scene, like the main character buying coffee, to one of a shooting, from scene to scene the movie is sewn by songs that make us get into the action and feel the adrenaline in the skin.
The result is impressive, it’s 118 minutes when your heart palpitates, your feet and shoulders sway and your mind says “Yes, yes, yes!”. To the sound of “Tequila” from The Champs you finally realize that the movie is not a simple 3-minute trailer, it’s a lot better!
If you are looking for a movie that will take your breath away and make you sing along the streets, Baby Driver is the right choice!

Há alguns meses a Paramount divulgou o primeiro trailer de Baby Driver: Foram poucos minutos de pura adrenalina acompanhados de músicas incríveis que nos deixam inquietos. O trailer é promissor, mas também nos faz pensar “será mesmo que o filme é tudo que parece ser?”. Após alguns trailers, os comentários eram ótimos e as expectativas já estavam nas alturas, mas apenas no dia 27 de Julho, finalmente, pudemos sentir de perto emoção das “arrancadas” de Baby, o motorista.
A história é simples, Baby (Ansel Elgort) é um talentoso piloto de fuga que escuta músicas o tempo todo para aliviar o “zumbido” em seu ouvido, causado por um acidente de carro quando era criança. Apesar de ótimo, o que faz o filme ser tão vibrante e emocionante não é o enredo, são as músicas!
A primeira cena começa com um clássico. Para mostrar que estamos no caminho certo e já nos preparar para o resto do filme, o blues alternativo dos anos 90, “Bellbottoms” de Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, invade a sala do cinema junto com a presença do protagonista Baby em uma sincronia perfeita que nos deixa quase sem reação.
Todas as cenas ao longo do filme são preenchidas por músicas, cada detalhe se encaixa nas batidas, os cenários, as manobras surreais e os personagens entram na coreografia da trilha sonora matadora que o filme apresenta. Desde uma cena pacata, como o personagem principal comprando café, até uma de um tiroteio, de cena em cena o filme é costurado por músicas que nos fazem entrar na ação e sentir a adrenalina na pele.
O resultado é impressionante, são 118 minutos em que seu coração palpita, seus pés e seus ombros balançam e sua mente diz “Sim, sim, sim!”. Ao som de “Tequila” do The Champs você finalmente percebe que o filme não é um simples trailer de 3 minutos, é bem melhor!
Se você está procurando por um filme que te tire o fôlego e te faça cantar pelas ruas, Baby Driver é a escolha certa!
