“Big Brother Brasil”: 3 Recipes With Only The Foods They Eat In “Xepa”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Casper Libero chapter.

The audience of reality shows has been growing and, with that, we have become more interested in the systems used by broadcasters to make the participants’ lives full of ups and downs. The best-known way to get the house busy is “Big Brother Brasil”‘s xepa. Some people are restricted to a small variety of food, with only basic items such as rice, beans, choice beef, rapadura; while other ones — in the VIP group — have access to an entire menu of varied items.

Anyway, this dynamic makes the participants drool over foods they can’t eat and they end up complaining a lot. But did you know that it is totally possible to eat well with what is offered at “Xepa”? To prove it, Her Campus Casper Libero separated some delicious recipes with just these basic foods that will make you like the “Xepa” feelings! Check them out below!:

1. Sweet rice

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of white rice;
  • 1 pinch of salt;
  • 5 cups of water;
  • 2 liters of whole milk;
  • 2 ½ cups of granulated sugar;
  • Cinnamon and sugar to taste.

Preparation mode:

In a common pan over low heat, cook the rice in five cups of water with a pinch of salt. Stir it occasionally to avoid sticking. Separately, boil the milk and set it aside. When the rice is well cooked, add the hot milk and continue stirring until it thickens. Then, add the sugar and stir until it reaches a creamy texture. Pour into the bowl and sprinkle with a little bit of cinnamon and enjoy!

2. Oxtail with sauce

Joe
Ingredients:

  • 4.5 pounds bovine tail;
  • 1 onion;
  • 3 garlic cloves;
  • 2 meat flavored broth;
  • Parsley to taste;
  • Salt to taste;
  • 1 meat broth tablet;
  • 1 ready-made tomato sauce sachet;
  • 3 tablespoons of vinegar;
  • Water.

Preparation mode:

Clean the excess fat from the meat already cut. Boil it in water with vinegar for about 10 minutes. Then, drain the meat and spice it with salt, garlic, and onion. Place them in a pressure cooker and sauté. When it is well colored, put the tomato sauce and water until it covers the meat. Close the pan and let it press until cooked (approximately 40 minutes). After cooking, add the parsley to season and just have fun!

3. Rice balls

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups of cooked white rice;
  • 2 tablespoons full of grated Parmesan cheese;
  • 1 cup of milk;
  • 2 eggs;
  • 2 cups of wheat flour;
  • 1 tablespoon of royal powder;
  • Salt, coriander, and onion to taste;
  • Soy oil.

Preparation mode:

Mix all the ingredients in order, until they form a conscious dough. Then drop it, little by little, in a hot frying pan, with the help of a spoon and the oil approximately one inch from the bottom of the frying pan. When it turns golden, remove and place it in a bowl, lined with paper towels to serve.

Found it easy? Living in BBB’s “Xepa” is not a fun task at first sight but with all this culinary knowledge, it would certainly be much simpler — and appetizing! Which one will you try first?
