8 Movies That Didn’t Get an Oscar Nomination But You Should Watch

The Oscars, one of the most important awards in the world of cinema, took place on March 4th, in Los Angeles, California. The 90th Academy Awards reunited several movie stars on the red carpet and awarded many of them throughout the night – no gaffes this year!

But the saddest thing that can happen to a movie lover is to watch their favorite movie losing a category in which it was nominated. Even worse than that is when the favorite movie isn’t nominated at all… So, we made this list of movies that didn’t get an Oscar nomination but deserve to be watched. Check it out:

1. Mother!

Even with all the divided opinions about Mother!, a lot of people missed the movie in the Oscar, especially Jennifer Lawrence’s fans. The drama tells the story of a couple who have their quiet days ended after the suspicious visitors comes to their house.

2. Bingo: O Rei das Manhãs

Another year that Brazil was out of the awards. Bingo tells the story of Arlindo Barreto, one of the actors of the clown Bozo, in the SBT television program during the 1980s. The actor became famous for the character, but didn’t get recognized without the clown costume, this made Arlindo get involved with drugs, even at the backstage.

3. Wonder Woman

After waiting for a long time, we finally watched one of the main female superheroes on the screens of the movie theaters! The Israeli actress, Gal Gadot, who gives life to Wonder Woman, made a wonderful performance and was approved from those who watched.

4. Battle of the Sexes

Battle of the Sexes shows a tennis dispute between a former champion Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) and the world ranking leader Billie Jean King (Emma Stone). The movie would be the perfect key for a global debate on gender equality.

5. Split

In this movie, James McAvoy interprets Kevin, a man that has Dissociative identity disorder (DID), also known as multiple personality disorder, with 23 different personalities. One day, Kevin decides to kidnap three teenagers and put the girls in a captivity.

We can’t deny that James’s performance deserved to get an nomination for an Oscar, this was not an easy role, but he managed to perform all the personalities perfectly.

6. Casting JonBenét

The unsolved death of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey is one of the most famous child murder cases in the United States. This documentary tells how was the investigation of the murder of the little Miss.

7. A Ghost Story

A man who has just died returns as a ghost to comfort his wife at their house. In his new form – a bedsheet ghost -, he realizes that he isn’t affected by the time, being condemned to be a mere spectator of the life of his woman.

8. The Killing of Sacred Deer

Steven is a renowned cardiologist, married and has two children. He often has contact with Martin, a teenager whose father died being operated by Steven. For a long time, he took care of the boy, gave him presents and even introduced him to his family, but the moment the boy stops receiving attention from man, he decides to work out a plan of revenge.
