That Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a successful and well-known sitcom, we already know. But do the fans appreciate Jake Peralta and Charles Boyle‘s friendship enough?
Despite being two opposites, the detectives form one of the most beloved dynamic duos in the series. With that in mind, Her Campus has picked six moments from their friendship that gave us friendship goals. Check it out!
1- When Jake proposes to Amy
In the fourth episode of season five, Jake masterminds the famous Halloween robbery so that he can propose to Amy. When the proposal actually takes place, Boyle enters the room and faints from such happiness for his friend. We all need a friend that loves us like that.
2- The Search for Captain Latvia
In the tenth episode of season five, Boyle buys a Captain Latvia doll for Nikolaj, his son. When the gift doesn’t arrive until Christmas morning, Boyle gets desperate and tries to track down the package with Jake. After they begin their search, they realize that they are actually involved with a mafia. Despite the challenges, Peralta does everything he can to rescue the doll and make sure Nikolaj has a happy Christmas.
3- Jake’s Bachelor Party
In the nineteenth episode of season five, Boyle plans Jake’s bachelor party. The detective’s plan was to organize a scavenger hunt for his friend, but the plan doesn’t work out so well. Still, Charles doesn’t let the party end and ends up giving Peralta the bachelor party of his dreams.
4- Boyle as Jake’s best man
In the fifth episode of season five, Jake has just proposed to Amy and Boyle is excited at the idea of being the best man to his best friend. At the beginning of the episode, Jake asks Charles for help at the police station and Boyle was sure that the proposal was going to happen. When the detective realizes that it really was a matter of work, he leaves the room disappointed. When he opens the door to the room, Boyle finds Terry, Amy, and Rosa with a sign and confetti inviting him to be the best man at the wedding.
5- Mac’s Birth
In the last episode of season seven, Amy goes into labor. Since discovering the couple’s pregnancy, Boyle has promised to take Jake to the birth of his child. On the day of the birth, Charles calls a truce with his greatest enemy in order to take his best friend to the hospital to see his son as he promised.
A friendship with no judgments
Without a doubt, a non-judgmental friendship is the best, and Jake and Charles cultivate a friendship exactly like that. From the very beginning of the series, the detectives have always been supportive of each other and have never judged each other’s decisions. Jake has always accepted Boyle’s eccentric love for food, his clumsy ways, and his love for his family. Charles has never let Jake down, be it in his investigations or his silly jokes, always giving his friend moral support. After all, isn’t that everyone’s dream
