A Guide to Carthage’s New Websites

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Carthage chapter.

The 2018-2019 school year has brought new changes to Carthage – like The Tower and Farmer’s Fridge machines for healthy meal options – but not all the changes are exclusive to on-campus. Previously, Carthage primarily used “My Carthage” for students’ functions along with a few other websites that often made things confusing for students (such as signing up for fitness classes and reserving rooms), and this new school year brought changes to these websites as well as a few new ones to the mix. But don’t worry – this guide’s got you covered.

1. My Carthage

My Carthage is still used for advising, adding and dropping classes, filling out your work hours if you’re a campus employee, checking your financial information, and requesting transcripts.

2. Schoology

Schoology has replaced eLearning for messaging teachers, finding course documents and turning in assignments. You can use your same username and password for My Carthage to log in.

3. The Harbor

Carthage has moved on from Org Sync and now uses The Harbor for keeping you updated on your organization’s meeting times, events, and finding information on other clubs. You’re also able to sign up for group fitness classes here, but I would suggest contacting the TARC for information.

4. Astra

Astra can be used to reserve rooms for meetings, events and study sessions. The website might come across as a little confusing at first, but it’s not too difficult to navigate. You can use your same username and password for My Carthage to access Astra.

5. LibGuide

LibGuide is perfect for finding whatever you need for class – whether you’re looking for a book, a play, poetry, children’s literature, journal articles, or research studies. It’s also a great resource, especially for those writing their thesis!

6. The Bridge (and Her Campus Carthage!)

Get all of the latest news from these two sources. The Bridge often writes about upcoming events and important campus information, whereas yours truly is there for career and relationship advice, featuring your fellow classmates, as well as beauty, style, national news… really anything you can imagine.

With this guide, Carthage collegiettes can focus on keeping track of homework assignments and scheduling their lives instead of trying to keep track of the campus’s websites – and having a list of the essential sites will only make it easier to keep your life organized.

Emily is a senior at Carthage College double majoring in English, with an emphasis in creative writing, and theatre, with an emphasis in costume design. She has also studied writing at Columbia University in the City of New York and The Second City - Chicago. Some of Emily's talents include eating large portions of pasta, quoting 80s romantic comedies, and unwanted Louis Armstrong impressions. These will all be very useful for her future career in television writing and producing.

Carthage '19

Jane graduated from Carthage College in May 2019 with a degree in English and Secondary Education. She is from Merced, California, which is close enough to San Fransisco for her to confirm that the City by the Bay is her absolute favorite. When she's not teaching or writing articles, she can be found collecting any book she can get her hands on, watching Netflix, staring mindlessly into the void, or napping.
