Crew Girl, Last Seen, Monster — there’s a great lineup of shows, movies and new series that are quickly gaining traction and landing on everyone’s watchlists this fall. We’ve got reality T.V., thrillers, romance-dramas and a slew of other genres to enjoy this upcoming season. With so many new options, it can be easy to forget that, some of the best shows for autumn are the classics.

Before jumping into all of the exciting new seasons and shows, let’s take a look at some of the heartwarming, nostalgic, and fun T.V. from years past.

Nostalgic Picks

1. The Nightmare Before Christmas

“The Nightmare Before Christmas” is a personal favourite of mine when it comes to fall classics. Tim Burton has an unmistakable style that paired with memorable songs, characters and a one-of-a-kind storyline, gives “The Nightmare Before Christmas” perfect autumnal vibes that cemented it as a Halloween classic.

2. What’s New, Scooby-Doo?

Many of us grew up watching some version of “Scooby-Doo.” There’s multiple different shows, movies, and mini-series with memorable villains, great episodes, and lots of that spooky, fall feeling. “What’s New, Scooby-Doo” is one of the best nostalgic picks for this fall — and if you’ve never seen it, make sure to add it to your watchlist.

Lighthearted, feel-good features

1. Hocus Pocus

No feel-good fall watchlist is complete without “Hocus Pocus.” The Sanderson Sisters are some of the most recognizable icons of the season, and for good reason. Not only are both movies family-friendly, fun, and perfectly whimsical, there’s actually a third instalment currently in the works.

2. Halloween Town

I can vividly remember my Disney Channel favs, and “Halloween Town” is definitely one of them. If you’re looking for a blend of cheesy, charming fall vibes without too much of a scare factor, this is the one for you.

The Scary Stuff

1. The Conjuring

No Halloween watchlist is complete without some actual spooky shows, and the first thing that comes to mind is “The Conjuring.” This iconic movie is based on true claims, and it’s not only a fan-favourite, but one of my favourite horror movies. The original is amazing, and there’s a whole series of movies to watch once you get through the first instalment. Be warned–these movies will make you jump!

2. A Nightmare on Elm Street

Is anyone surprised that the Freddy Krueger classic has made this list? If you can handle more of a scare this season, “A Nightmare on Elm Street” is one of my favourite creepy cult classics. This movie might haunt your dreams, and if you’re a horror and Halloween fan, you’ve got to add this to your watchlist this fall.

New series are always exciting, especially when they’ve got some of that Halloween-y, autumnal feeling. I know we will all be spending some time catching up on the new releases this season, but don’t forget to take a stroll down memory lane. Get cozy, have some fall treats, and add some classics into your must-watch lineup this season.
