My name is Olivia, and I am a third-year student at Carleton University studying Law and Legal Studies with a concentration in Business Law. This year, I am excited to be joining Her Campus Carleton as the Secretary. This is my first year being part of HCC, and I am looking forward to getting to know the team and being part of such a creative and welcoming community.
As a law student, reading, writing and staying organized are a big part of my everyday life. Through my studies, I have developed strong communication, time management and organizational skills. I hope to bring these skills into my role as secretary by helping keep our meetings organized, making sure information is communicated clearly, and supporting the team wherever I can.
This year, one of my biggest goals is to help HCC grow and create an even stronger community for students. I would love to contribute new ideas, support our events and help make sure everyone feels included and excited to be part of HCC. I am also looking forward to learning from the rest of the executive team and growing my own skills along the way.
My interest in HCC comes from something that has always been a big part of my life: reading. As a law student, reading can cometimes feel like the majority of my workload. However, as I have learned to find a better balance between school and my personal life, I have started to enjoy reading and writing more as ways to slow down and make time for myself.
This summer, I started getting into writing as a way to decompress and understand life a little better. Reading, especially articles, novels and even magazines, has always been a comfort to me. I find that reading is not just a way to escape reality, but also a way to learn, explore different perspectives, and understand things I never knew I needed to.
I am excited to bring this love for reading and writing into my experience with HCC. I hope this year will be filled with new friendships, creativity and opportunities to grow.
