From ‘Chella to Bluesfest: This Festival Season Must-Wears

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Carleton chapter.

Coachella’s first weekend had a lot of style to offer. It gave a glimpse on what’s to come with a variety of festival outfits which brought all those good spring and summer vibes. Here are nine Coachella trends you can bring to Bluesfest.

Crochet

Crochet was all over the runway at New York Fashion Week but seeing it come to life on Sza is what sold me on the look. The pastel colors gave the dress a new school festival vibe. Opting to pair your crochet apparel with sneakers rather than sandals is how to bring a streetwear feel to your look.

Colour, Colour, Colour

From the art installations to the outfits, Coachella was a bubbly sea of colour. This summer don’t be afraid to pull out all of those bright coloured pieces when you’re getting ready for Bluesfest. If it feels like your outfit is too funky, then it’s probably just right.

Combat Boots

Blackpink showed us that the combat boot fashion staple is not going anywhere. Your boots are a tool for carrying afternoon outfits through to the evening and keeping it looking fresh. They are perfect for giving even the most timeless outfit an edgy feel and bringing it up to the next level.

Silver

Technical difficulties did not stop Lizzo from killing her performance at Coachella, all while looking radiant in her metallic silver bodysuit. The sparkly silver trend was seen at the festival on hair accessories all the way down to footwear. Whether you are going for a full silver look or using it as an accent colour, your outfit will surely be an eye-catcher.

One Tone Outfits

Bretman Rock and Nikita Dragun slayed in their coordinated one tone looks. Choosing multiple pieces of the same shade really works to give your outfit a polished feel. If you haven’t already, take the time to figure out what colour(s) you feel best in and go to town with incorporating them into your Bluesfest looks. Less is always more!

Matching Sets

Coachella is no stranger to a good floral set and this year the trend is still going strong. This look is a relatively effortless way to looking stylish. The sets can be as simple as a cute crop top with matching shorts.

Square Scarf

The square scarf has always been a concert staple but this year it seems the classic bandana paisley pattern is taking a back seat to different designs. Kendall and Hailey rocked the unreleased Drew scarf around their faces channeling the fashion face mask look. Scarves can also be styled as tops, tied onto bags, or accessorized as head bands.

Neon

Joan Smalls and Maeve Reilly’s Coachella looks perfectly embodied the current neon trend. Selective moderation is the key to integrating these bold colours into your outfit without going full 80s. Sporting a neon top, accessories and makeup but pairing them with neutral layers and bottoms, highlights the neon without it detracting from the outfit as a whole.

If this year you’re going to Bluesfest and wanted to stand out from the crowd, try these amazing trends. We know Coachella is the landmark for fashion icons during festival season, and every year they never disappoint. Bring Coachella to Bluesfest with your own spin this summer.
