Here’s How to Throw the Perfect Galentine’s Day Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Carleton chapter.

I threw a Galentine’s Day party and researched all the best ideas –– so you don’t have to.

Step 1: Have a theme

Choosing a theme is a great way to make your Galentine’s Day party more unique and memorable! You can tailor the décor, food, activities and even get people to dress to the theme.

Here are some ideas: Pretty in Pink, Floral Brunch, Satin Pyjamas, Red and Pink, Hearts and lips, Dine and paint, rom-com characters… have fun with it and make it something you love. Plus, you can give people an excuse to dress to a theme!

STEP 2: MAKE A CUTE INVITATION

Canva is a girl’s best friend. It has the cutest templates and it is so easy to use. I have the entire adobe suite but Canva is so easy that it’s my go-to. You can choose a style that matches your theme and make your guests feel important while also looking like you throw the best parties.

STEP 3: MAKE YOUR PINTEREST BOARD

Pinterest, a VSCO alum girls’ best friend, has such amazing ideas and I live for the aesthetics. By searching what other people have done, you can get so many ideas for your own party.

Before I shop for décor and plan the food, I like to create a Pinterest board to keep myself from getting too overwhelmed once I hit the stores. I also find it helpful when it comes to budgeting; I can decide what items I want to splurge on for the party and where I can cut costs. Money-savvy aesthetic girls love Dollarama — you can’t tell me otherwise!

Step 4: TikTok INSPO

Just like Pinterest, TikTok has some amazing activity ideas: A Secret Galentine (like Secret Santa but make it Valentine’s), love potions (where everyone makes a cute Valentine’s drink), a photo booth area with props, eating heart-shaped cakes in wine glasses. Hop on the app and get to it!

Step 5: G-DAY FOOD

I’m sure you’ve seen all the cute charcuterie boards on Pinterest. But, if you’re anything like me, you want something more than cheese on a cutting board. Check out these cute V-day dishes: Slutty Brownies, Cake Pops and Skewers! Also, don’t forget to check your local grocery store for V-day packaged food like Pillsbury cookies and cinnamon buns.

STEP 6: DON’T FORGET the details

Some last-minute details that will complete your party: Make a cute sign or customize your letter boards, download a love song playlist, have some movie options ready and of course have fun with your gals!

Galentine’s Day is the perfect way to celebrate all things love, friends and fun. So get out your planner and start prepping!
