Celebrating Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be with a romantic partner! In fact, Valentine’s Day celebrates the love and appreciation you have for any loved one. Why not celebrate your love with the ones who stuck by you through the good and the bad? Let’s appreciate our friendships by hosting an event! Here is a step-by step guide to hosting the ultimate Galentine’s day party for you and your friends:

Decorations: Lets talk decorations. When planning a Galentine’s party for you and your friends, a theme is what will bring this event to life. Having light pink, white and gold accents of colour really makes the place more sophisticated, and keeping up with that colour scheme can certainly make the room pop. A centrepiece for the event is also a great idea! You could add flowers, chocolates, drinks, face masks and candles. If you’re not a fan of candles, a great alternative is a simmer pot. Comfort is also important when hosting a relaxing night in with friends. Provide your friends with comfy squishmellows, throw on pillows, and blankets as a part of the relaxing theme. I personally found many kinds of throw pillows and blankets at my local Marshall’s, and since it is February, there are tons of Valentine’s themed throw on’s to choose from. I also found that the best lighting is fairy lights.

Activities: When hosting the ultimate Galentine’s day event, it should be engaging and something everyone at the party can enjoy. Here are my go to’s:

  • A Spa Day: I found that Walmart has some really great sheet masks to choose from, which are incredibly hydrating and budget friendly. Or, if you want to treat your friends with something more expensive, Sephora’s Dermasks are a popular choice. While on the topic of skincare, why not try some trending skin care hacks with your friends? Currently one of the latest trends is achieving “glass skin.” As well, since the weather is getting cold, haircare could be a perfect self-care activity to do, specifically hair oiling. My personal favourite hair oil is the OGX Argan oil, a light weight oil perfect for many hair types.
  • Baking Galentine Themed Treats: One thing my friends and I love to do is bake tons of treats! Baking is relaxing and creates an incredible opportunity for bonding. When the latest season of Bridgerton came out, many people, including me and my friends, made a Bridgerton themed cake. I think making these cakes could fit the Galentine’s theme perfectly! A quick tip for this is to assemble your cake and icing prior to the event, so you and your friends could focus on just decorating the cake. An alternative to baking is making mocktails, and chocolate covered strawberries.
  • Movie Marathon: With the comfy set up you created with your throw-ons, you can also include a dress code of comfy clothes, like sweatpants and pajamas, for a relaxing environment and perfect for the movie marathon. A rom-com I would recommend is Love Hard (2021), a romantic comedy film where Nina goes on Tinder and finds a guy she really likes. Nina ends up getting catfished but ultimately gains a strong connection with Josh, the man behind the catfish. An alternative to rom-coms are romantic TV shows. On Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2025) Love is Blind season 8 comes out with a batch of episodes! Love is Blind is a Netflix series consisting of singles who are looking for a long term partner. They have 10 days to talk in “pods” (a small room where you can talk to one another without actually seeing what the other looks like). After the 10 days, the couples will decide if they will want to get married.

Valentine’s Day does not have to be celebrated with a romantic partner. This is a day to appreciate your loved ones, and in particular, your friendships. Why not treat your friends with the ultimate Galentine’s day party!
