My To Be Read (TBR) list is never ending, partly because I have worked in a bookstore for the past three years and partly thanks to communities like BookTok supplying endless recommendations. My goal for 2025 is to read 25 books, which may seem ambitious but I promise it is possible if you read the right books. I find it helpful to explore different genres and authors to make reading more exciting and worthwhile. With that in mind, here are 4 books you absolutely need to add to your 2025 TBR list.

Everything I Know About Love

This is a heartfelt and relatable autobiography by the acclaimed Sunday Times journalist, Dolly Alderton. She takes you through her adventures with friendship, love, parties and life in a witty and intriguing manner. Alderton feels like a wise older sister offering you advice about your 20s, and I would recommend this book to every single one of my friends navigating adulthood. This book taught me to recognize that love comes in many forms, including female friendships at the forefront.

The Seven Year Slip

This romance by Ashley Poston was recommended to me countless times on BookTok, with every video rating it a glowing 6/5 stars. Naturally, I was skeptical about whether it would live up to these high expectations, but it is safe to say that it did. This is an adorable romance between two characters that live in different timelines, and this magical twist is what sets the book apart from so many other romances. It was unique and charming, and kept me guessing whether they would end up together in the present. It’s also a great pick for anyone whose love language is quality time!

The Seven husbands of evelyn hugo

The Taylor Jenkins Reid universe outlines various fictional celebrities in each novel. One of my favourites follows Evelyn Hugo, a glamorous Hollywood actress from the 1950s that is loosely inspired by Elizabeth Taylor. The novel recounts each of her seven marriages, along with the secrets that shaped her experiences in the spotlight. The narrative also transitions to the present day, where Evelyn offers her final interview to a specific journalist, where she reveals the untold truths behind her fame.

The Let Them Theory

This is the only book on this list that I have not read, but it is on my TBR for 2025. I have received countless phone calls at the bookstore asking for this sold out self-help book, so I am confident that it is worth the read. Mel Robbins is a New York Times bestselling author and podcast host around mindset and motivation; this latest book focuses on prioritizing what you can control and letting go of what you cannot. Whether you have read self-help before or not, this book is a powerful addition to your 2025 reading list.

Happy reading!!
