In order to educate the Cal U campus, a team of 11 students have been a part of creating the WOAH Women YouTube channel.

The project was created after the PASSHE Women’s Leadership Consortium last spring. Andrea Ceja was one of three students from Cal U to attend the Consortium in the spring where PASSHE schools could receive a small fund, the only requirement was that they identify and treat a problem on their campus through some sort of creative project using the money.

WOAH! Women Youtube Channel

Andrea’s idea was to create a YouTube channel to solve the problem that have been identified on our campus. The problem is that, overwhelmingly, the Cal U student population does not understand women’s issues. The purpose of the WOAH Women channel is to create a “comfortable space” where students can be educated on topics such as the LGBTQ community and women’s issues.

The videos on the channel will revolve around the group’s six main topics: Feminism 101, LGBTQ, current events, women of color, men in feminism and women’s health and wellness. The channel will feature students, professors and professionals from the area.

The anchors, writers, and social media teams that are made up of Cal U students that are a mix of diverse backgrounds. The students that are a part of this team have backgrounds in research, communication, writing and theatre. Between people of color and people who identify as a part of the LGBTQ community, they all bring something unique to the table. One of the best things about the group is that there is creative freedom, everyone gets an equal say in decisions that are made.

The WOAH Women channel release week begins today, with anchor introductions on the WOAH Women social media outlets leading up to the release day and then the channels first video going up Friday at three PM. Their videos will be released bi-weekly.
