Meet Jon Hershey- Student Activities Board President

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal U chapter.

Jonathan Hershey is a junior here at California University of Pennsylvania. He is a Business Management major, and knows a quite a bit about getting involved on campus and taking advantage of all the amazing opportunities that Cal U has to offer.

Hershey is currently President of the Student Activities Board (SAB), Corresponding Secretary of the Student Government Association (SGA), a Board of Directors Member on for the Student Association Incorporation, a Cal Times Staff Writer, Cal U for Life Orientation Leader, and a Peer Mentor. He is from Manheim, PA and initially was looking into Millersville, but then decided on Cal U and is glad he did!

Hershey is incredibly involved, and encourages all students to try and do the same. He learned about SAB during Orientation weekend of his freshman year. He admits that he was drawn to the club because of all the cool free stuff and giveaways, but then when he found out that he could be a part of making that happen, there was no turning back. He heard about SGA that first weekend, but waited until this past spring to join. As for Cal Times, he calls it a “newer venture” and is really starting to love doing articles on the things that interest him.

One of Hershey’s greatest accomplishments thus far was spending four weeks in Germany and getting to also spend a few of those days in France. When asked about traveling, Hershey said that Paris, France is also the coolest place that he has ever been.

His favorite color is blue and in his spare time he loves watching movies, TV, playing video games, and spending time with his family, friends, and dog. As for TV, a popular show, especially amongst college students (or so it seems) is American Horror Story. The show is currently in its 6th season, but this is also the first and only season that Hershey has watched. There is a lot of confusion about this season so far, but Hershey says he plans on staying with it because it’s actually scary and is very different from other shows.

One of his biggest pet peeves is people who walk slow, and his favorite holiday is Christmas. His first concert was Dan + Shay and one of the top things on his bucket list is sky diving. His favorite jokes are bad puns and finally, when asked, “what would you do for a Klondike bar?” he responded with, “actually, not much at all. I would probably just trade it in for a soda instead”.
