Dr. Sarah Downey is an English professor at California University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Downey is working on her eighth year of teaching at Cal U. She previously taught at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Downey is also a advisor for two clubs at Cal U, the Anime club, and the Quidditch club. Dr. Downey received her degrees from Toronto University where she studied English, Latin and Mediaeval Studies.
When she is not teaching, Dr. Downey enjoys watching television that includes intensive plot structure. She enjoys movies such as Star Wars, Star Trek and The Lord of The Rings. Downey also enjoys video games such as the old school isometric-type of games. Her favorite literate piece of all time is the Chaucer Canterbury Tales. Downey’s love for English sparked at a young age. Downey played softball as a child, but spent most of her time in the outfield reading a book. Dr. Downey said she wanted to study English due to her fascination with the Lord Of the Rings series.
Dr. Downey lives in the South Hills of Pittsburgh with her husband and their dog Yorgi the corgi. Downey’s husband spent some time involved in the peace corp. in Ethiopia. She said that her dog was named after an Ethiopian beer, Yorgi. Downey enjoys the Pittsburgh area due to its resemblance of her past. Downey explained that Pittsburgh is somewhat of a mix of Knoxville and Toronto, and that she is glad to be teaching in her home state. Dr. Sarah Downey is originally from Erie Pennsylvania, and has a special place in her heart for the keystone state.
