Handmade Christmas Gifts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal State LA chapter.

It’s the time of year and we’re all thinking the same thing: three weeks till Christmas. While Christmas is on its way, you’re also thinking “what kind gift should I get for…?” You can fill in the blank. During this time of year, we all want to give our love ones the perfect gift. However, it’s hard to pick that perfect gift when you have to consider the value of the gift or what to get them for Christmas. Instead of stressing yourself on getting the perfect or buying a gift card, why not make a homemade gift?

Here are some homemade Christmas gifts that your love ones might love:

Makeup Magnet Board

Every woman wants her makeup in one place where she can reach it and put it away safely. A makeup bag may seem great, but it gets easily messy when liquid foundation is spilled. Instead of a makeup bag, give your friend or family members a Makeup Magnet Board. This gift is not only creative and organize, but it’s the perfect gift to make for the very stylish. It very easy to make, click here for further instructions.

The Envelope Clutch

With electronics offered at a low price for Christmas, students are considering of getting tablets. Maybe a nice tablet protector cover or case would be great gift. Instead of buying one, why not make an envelope clutch for their new tablet? Usually covers or cases cost from $19.99 to $30.00, but making your own cover will only cost you $5 bucks and you can style it with the colors and design that your love ones will love. Multi-Strand Scarf

Usually your Grandma would knit you a scarf that would keep you warm during the winter. Now, a scarf is no longer considered a winter item; it’s a fashion item that combines with your wardrobe. If you’re thinking of getting a scarf at retail store for $12 or so, reconsider buying one when you can simply make one with a large t-shirt. You can make a fashionable scarf by cutting the bottom hem of the shirt. It doesn’t have to be a single color! It can be with multiple colors and decorative with beads or patterns. Click here on to make it.

Beaded Safety Pin Bracelets

Jewelry has always been everyone’s best friend; instead of buying jewelry, why not make one for the holidays? Beaded Safety Pin Bracelets are the most creative and chic bracelets that you can give to your best friend, mom, sister, or any one of your family members. It very easy to make and you can create different colors that would go with any outfit or make it Christmas-y. All you’ll need is safety pins, stretch cord, and glass beads.
