DIY Teacup Flower Arrangement

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal State LA chapter.

Flowers can add a touch of magic to any room.  They add a splash of color and can surely brighten anyone’s day. Store bought flowers can be pricey. Thankfully, making your own flower arrangement is much more exciting! You get to pick out your own flowers and arrange them how you desire. This tea cup floral arrangement is an eye catcher that will bring life to your bedroom or dorm.  Take a break from studying and dust off your tea cups.

Materials:

You need a few items to get started. You can buy your flowers at the Los Angeles Flower Market or at a farmers market. This arrangement consists of peach colored mini carnations and pink alstroemerias. Dusty Miller was also used to fill in the spaces.

You also need:

A tea cup

Floral foam

Garden scissors

Steps:

1.     Use the top of your tea cup to trace a circle on the floral foam. Cut out the circle and form a cone as you are cutting. Place the cone inside of the tea cup and drench it with water. Make sure you put enough water so your floral arrangement can last.

2.     Place a flower in the center

Select a flower from your bunch and cut the stem so that it’s about two inches long. Stick the flower in the center of the tea cup.

3.     Fill your cup

Use the flower that you placed in the center to be your guidance point. Start placing flowers around it. You can create a pattern using the different flowers or place the flowers as you please.

4.     Enjoy your final creation!
