The internet sensation and octopus-lover, Jake Shane, is taking over pop culture and social media with his relatable Gen Z humor and podcast, “Therapuss with Jake Shane”.

Shane is breaking influencer barriers as he is quickly becoming a popular figure in the podcast industry and celebrity sphere. With almost two million followers on Instagram and four million followers on TikTok, his social media presence is undeniably growing.

Shane’s large fanbase grew from his viral comedic reenactments of pop culture moments on TikTok. His podcast episodes are currently streaming on Netflix and Spotify, and his Q&A segment, “Tell Me What’s Wrong,” is a fan favorite. During this section of the podcast, Shane acts like a therapist and responds to listeners’ questions with stories and advice he calls “pusscriptions.”

As an active member of Shane’s fanbase (or “pussies,” as he calls us), here are my top four pusscriptions that truly made my life better.

  1. Girls HBO Max

It would be criminal if the iconic 2012 TV series, “Girls”, was not my number one pusscription. Lena Dunham’s witty television show blends the infamous girlhood of “Sex and the City” with the raunchy realism of living in NYC in your 20s. Dunham’s “Girls” is a top pusscription Shane recommends to listeners who ask for advice about friendship troubles and navigating embarrassing moments.

I listened to Shane and watched “Girls” with no idea what I was getting myself into.  After one episode, I was hooked! Strangely enough, Dunham’s unhinged series became my comfort show. Now, I turn on “Girls” whenever I need a good laugh, or simply just a reminder that no matter what’s happening in my personal life, the characters are somehow going through something worse.

  1. Katjes Gummies

The vegan German gummy brand, Katjes, gained a quick U.S. following after Shane became the company’s CCO in 2026. The fruity gummies are best known for their soft and foamy texture. Shane frequently posts himself enjoying the sweet-and-sour gummies on Instagram and TikTok.

In the podcast episode, “Session 113: Crossfaded with Mau P,” Shane and DJ Mau P bond over their shared love for Katjes. Shane noted his excitement to attend the Sweets & Snacks Expo in Las Vegas alongside Katjes. At the event, Shane and his friends received personalized Katjes candies with their faces printed on the gummies.

After watching multiple taste test videos on social media, I picked up my first Katjes bag at World Market. I chose the Wild & Free flavor, and I loved how the fruity gummies weren’t too sweet or overpowering. If you’ve never tried foamy gummies before, I highly recommend purchasing a bag of Katjes.

  1. Lola Blankets

The blanket brand, Lola Blankets, is a Shane staple for couch-rotting and relaxation. According to Shane, his XL Lola Blanket is the softest blanket he’s ever owned. He believes he could sleep with it forever. Throughout podcast episodes, Shane and his guests are frequently cozied under Lola Blankets while chatting.

I received my Lola Blanket as a Christmas present, and it’s been my favorite blanket since. I’ve never felt a softer blanket that remains soft after months of use. I like how Lola blankets feel heavy, but lightweight at the same time, which is perfect if you tend to overheat under blankets.

  1. Scandal

Shane declares the Shonda Rhimes TV show, “Scandal,” as the ultimate holy grail of television. For the 100th Therapuss episode, Session 100: Kerry Washington, Shane sat down with the “Scandal” star, Kerry Washington, to unpack her career and the show’s historic impact. The series focuses on Washington’s character, Olivia Pope, and her role as a “fixer” for the U.S. government and high-profile professionals.

After countless episodes listening to Shane pusscribe “Scandal,” I caved and sat with my roommates to see what the hype was all about. It’s safe to say we remained on our couch for half a day because the jaw-dropping plot twists and complex characters were that good.

I had never experienced screaming at the TV until I watched “Scandal.” Rhimes’ amazing storytelling keeps viewers on their toes and her characters busy solving seemingly unsolvable problems. I can confidently say “Scandal” made me fall back in love with binge-watching television. I also appreciate how Shane’s brilliant recommendation brought my friends together and gave us a new activity to appreciate together.

Shane’s internet presence is expanding with his growing Gen Z and pop-culture loving fanbase. Whether he’s hosting podcasts or conducting red carpet interviews, he continues to share his authentic self and undeniable comedic timing.

The next time you need advice or a good laugh, visit passthatpuss.com and Shane, with the help of a special guest, will answer your questions live on “Therapuss”.
