Spring Break: Expectations VS Reality

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Ah, spring break. The epitome of college some might say. Warm weather, endless beach parties, the perfect golden tan –basically everything you’ve ever seen in the movies. At least, that’s what we expect it to be like. If we’re being honest, the ideas we have of the “perfect spring break” often end up being, well, not so perfect…

Expectation: Hitting the gym every day before break to refine your beach bod.

Reality: It’s finals week, so stress eating is definitely a thing.

Expectation: One week of non-stop partying.

Reality: Going too hard the first night and feeling as if you may never see the light of day again.

Expectation: Getting the perfect tan and looking like a majestic beach goddess.

Reality: You’ve never been more sunburnt in your entire life and end up having the world’s most awkward tan.

Expectation: Meeting the cutest guys and finding the perfect spring fling.

Reality: Creepy guys EVERYWHERE.

And in all honesty…

Expectation: Planning an unforgettable spring break trip with your friends.

Reality: Going home and doing absolutely nothing but eating food and watching Netflix.

Have a great break, Mustangs!
