While it is funny to watch characters endure their horrible bosses on the big screen, many people in the real world have had to deal with bosses who specialize in making their workers lives complicated.
Many college students have had a part time job. Working on top of keeping up with schoolwork is stressful enough. Add a horrible boss to the equation and you have yourself an undesirable situation. But boy, do you have some good stories to tell.Ā I asked some students for their own real life āhorrible bossesā stories. Here I will share some of my favorites. Keep in mind the names have been changed to protect the innocentā¦and the not so innocent.
Sabrina, 1st year: āI worked at an Italian Ice shop, and my boss, Daniel, would always find tiny little beard hairs in the Italian Ice. He had a huge beard on his face, and I obviously didnāt. He still fired me for getting my beard hair in the product.ā
Becky, 1st year: āMy manager at my old job, an ice cream shop, would constantly write me up because I ādidnāt sell enough ice cream and was making the store “lose money.”ā The owner of the store eventually fired him, because she discovered that he had been stealing hundreds of dollars from the storeās cash registers. Isnāt karma funny, Andy?ā
Chelsea, 2nd year: āI worked at a smoothie shop. My old boss would always take shots of alcohol with her underage employees on the clock, with customers in the store.ā
Kaylee, 3rd year: āI had a manager at the clothing store I used to work at who would come into work every day, lay down on the floor in the back of the store and sleep for his entire shift.ā
Well, there you have it. Horrible bosses arenāt just found in the movies. How some people rise to power? We may never know.
