I have always loved a good murder-mystery show. For some reason, I have always appreciated the comforting feeling of a classic “whodunit” that combines comedy, drama, and the perfect amount of cheesie-ness to keep me entertained. My ideal rainy days consist of comfy pajamas, hot chocolate, and the perfect murder-mystery show where I try to solve the case before the main characters can.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t having too much luck finding my next binge-worthy murder show, until I discovered Only Murders in the Building. This Hulu original combines my favorite genres of comedy and mystery. Even better, the cast included a surprising combination of some a-list actors: Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short. The show follows these three main characters (who start off as complete strangers) and their lives in an Upper West Side apartment in Manhattan, New York.  The characters aspire to be murder-mystery podcast creators, using actual murders that happen in their building as feautred content.

The twists and turns of the classic murder-mystery plot only continue to surprise and entertain as the show progresses. Not only are the three characters faced with challenges of navigating how to solve a murder with no detective backgrounds, but they also must face lies they discover about each other. The investigative strangers-turned-friends face dangers of living with murderers as they fight to expose the secrets buried within the confines of their building.

This show is a must-watch because it does everything a classic murder-mysters does.  It will make you laugh and make you question your guesses as to what might actually be going on.  Only Murders in the Building tests your invesitative knowledge and might just inspire you to start your own murder-mystery podcast too. Thanks to this new-found gem on Hulu, I now have a perfect rainy day murder show to turn to.
