Meet Hiker, Biker, Iguana Burrito Challenger, Kevin Rosenfeld

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Where is your hometown?

San Diego

And what do you miss most about San Diego?

The beach

Even though we have beaches here?

The beaches here are way harder to get to. And the beaches in SD are way nicer.

What’s your major?

Computer engineering

What do you like most about CE?

Programming, unfortunately.

What are some of your interests or hobbies, besides programming?

I enjoy working out. I like to exercise a lot, probably too much according to must people, like 2-3 hours a day. I like to hang out with friends. I like hiking, biking…I like skiing. I love skydiving.

Do you go skydiving a lot?

I’ve been 3 or 4 times, but I want to get my license.

What’s your favorite move from the last year?

There have been so many movies that I’ve seen. American sniper was pretty good. Interstellar was pretty good. I saw Divergent…that was pretty good. I saw Hunger Games…that was pretty good. They were all entertaining but none of them were my favorite. I don’t really have a favorite movie.

What about music?

I listen to a lot of EDM mainly. It varies, because EDM has a lot of subgenres, so it depends on what I’m doing. Favorite? Hard to say but my favorite artist is Vicetone. They are like two guys from the Netherlands. They are pretty cool.

Do you go to raves? Isn’t that what people that listen to EDM do?

Uh, yeah but they are hardly raves. Raves are illegal.

Oh. (Awkward laughter)

They are EDM shows. That’s the politically right way to say it.

If you got a free round-trip ticket to anywhere in the world where would you go?

Italy. I’ve always wanted to go to Europe and see Italy. I’d also like to go to Switzerland. I love snow and the Swiss Alps there…unbelievable skiing, just gorgeous area.

What is your all time favorite meal?

I really like fried chicken and mashed potatoes. My mom is an amazing cook so she can make homemade fried chicken and mashed potatoes, and that is quite delicious.

Where are you hoping life takes you?

I don’t want to leave San Diego so when I graduate I hope to go back to San Diego and work for Qualcomm or some company there. And right now I’m trying to get an internship with General Atomics. They are mainly for UAVs, which are Unmanned Area Vehicles. So if I get that, I would be programming the software for drones, which would be pretty cool.

Fun fact 1: He has done the Iguana Burrito Challenge at Tacos to Go, a 5 lb burrito. It took him 45 minutes and it was very difficult. There was a hint of regret in his voice.

Fun Fact 2:  He prefers dogs to cats and has an adorable golden retriever to prove it.

Fun Fact 3: He is single, so go find him at the gym or at the next music festival.

Sam is an English major and Media Arts & Technologies minor at Cal Poly SLO. She enjoys walking around bookstores, going to the movies, and writing fictional stories that she never seems to finish. She dreams of becoming the next Queen of England and her weakness is donuts (preferably maple-glazed, but she isn't picky).
Hannah is a sophomore at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. Besides writing, she loves running, Thai food and making ridiculously unaffordable collections on Wanelo. Hannah is obsessed with The Walking Dead, old Disney movies, Ed Sheeran and wasting time on Photoshop. She'd like to point out that she can't sing or dance, but will, because that's when it's the most fun, especially when the songs are from "Les Miserables."
