‘Love Stinks’ & Other Songs to Blast at Your Anti-Valentine’s Day Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Being single isn’t a bad thing—some even argue it’s the best thing ever, actually! Except on Valentine’s Day, when it seems all anyone can talk about is their new beau and the box of chocolates their lover gave them. And, like, good for them, but as single ladies, we like to ignore all of the mushy-gushy-ness happening all over our Facebook feeds. Hence, an Anti-Valentine’s Day Party! You’re all invited, it’ll be great. But what’s a party without a killer playlist? Nothing, which is why we’ve created the perfect mix of anti-love songs for you. Ranging from slightly sad songs about unrequited love (backed by a sick beat to keep the mood up) to bangers all about how you don’t need a man to make you happy, this playlist will be the perfect accompaniment to your bash.

Some staples, like “Potential Breakup Song” by Aly & AJ and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” by Beyoncé, made the list to guarantee your party attendees can scream along to the chorus. We also threw in some lesser known jams, including “Hair” by Little Mix and “Changing of the Seasons” by Two Door Cinema Club, to keep things interesting. Filled with upbeat ditties about everything anti-love, this playlist will increase your party-throwing cred tenfold:

“Love Stinks” by The J. Geils Band

“Kiss With A Fist” by Florence + the Machine

“Potential Breakup Song” by Aly & AJ

“Another Dumb Blonde” by Hoku

“Changing of the Seasons” by Two Door Cinema Club

“Goodbye” by Who Is Fancy

“New Romantics” by Taylor Swift

“FU” by Miley Cyrus feat. French Montana

“Hair” by Little Mix

“How To Be a Heartbreaker” by Marina and the Diamonds

“Where Do Broken Hearts Go” by One Direction

“I Look So Good (Without You)” by Jessie James

“You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette

“Kill the Director” by The Wombats

“Grown” by Little Mix

“Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” by Beyoncé

“I Love It” by Icona Pop feat. Charli XCX

“Me & My Girls” by Selena Gomez

“Miss Movin’ On” by Fifth Harmony

“Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’” by Journey

And there you have it— a perfectly angsty, girl-powery, far from lovey-dovey playlist for your Anti-Valentine’s Day Party!
