Sometimes, we just need to be inspired. It’s the end of second quarter, classes are rough, finals are nearing, and everyone is walking around in malfunctioning wardrobes and exuding stress by the tons. In need of a cause to get your head back in the game? Look no further. I’m here to provide you with the motivation you need to carry out the week —both successfully and in good spirits. Not only are these bound to get you right up out of your work slump, but I guarantee these will be applicable to other aspects of your life … whether you’re attending Grad school, starting a job, or even just about to retire.

1. The Ripples Project

Some of us may remember Mr. Ripples as the energetic and inspirational speaker who welcomed us our very first day at Cal Poly in Spanos Stadium. Although I remember being scared straight, sitting with my WOW group in anticipation for the week to begin, I still practice his impactful lessons. In his speech he advised us to take advantage of our experience at Cal Poly by asking questions, keeping an open mind and eliminating the obstacles in our life holding us back. I was so inspired by his speech that I signed up for his newsletter, and every Monday I am emailed quotes and words of wisdom from Mr. Ripples himself, to kick start my week on a positive note. You can sign up for the newsletter here:

2. Restoration in Humanity

As cheesy as it is, reading this article can’t help but evoke warm and fuzzy feelings about humankind. These images and stories are so heartfelt and sincere, and highlight the importance and effects of random acts of kindness. It may even inspire you to go out and do something out of the pure sincerity of your heart.

3. “How to Live Before You Die”

In this worldly renowned Ted Talk, Steve Jobs discusses the elementary components necessary for his road to success, and elaborates on the obscure events that made a big impact on the foundation of Apple. Embedded in his speech are messages of perseverance, the importance of creativity, and growth.

4. “Best Song Ever”

This is no joke. “Best Song Ever” by One Direction has all the qualities of the perfect pump up song. Not only is the music video hilarious, but the upbeat rhythms and stunning vocals of the boys will help dissipate all your misery towards finals, and get you prepared to buckle down and study. Use this song in between study breaks to let loose and practice those dance moves. Watch here:

That’s all I got. Good luck, everyone!
