Alex Consani is quickly becoming a household name in the modeling industry. Currently, Consani has 2 million followers on Instagram (@alexconsani) and 4.5 million followers on TikTok (@captincrook). Fittingly, Consani’s modeling career began through social media at age 15, after her mom discovered a modeling ad on Facebook. With her prestigious modeling resume, it’s hard to believe that Consani is only 21 years old, but her authentic and bubbly personality reminds us that she’s truly Gen Z.

Currently, Consani is signed with IMG Models, which represents popular supermodels like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Miranda Kerr, and Taylor Hill. Her first high fashion runway debut was for Tom Ford in 2021, but now, Consani has walked for prestigious brands like Versace, Chanel, Alexander McQueen, and Marc Jacobs. Consani’s professionalism is showcased throughout her composure and confidence while she executes a perfect walk down the runway.

Off the runway, her social media personality directly contrasts her technical poise on the runway. On TikTok, Consani is usually running around the streets of NYC, dancing in knee high boots on the subway, or comically speaking directly to the camera. Her videos feel raw and real. There’s no attempt to maintain the pressure of mystery and perfection that the modeling industry encourages. Consani is able to maintain professionalism as a model while also remaining loyal to her authenticity. Her duality creates new dimensions for models to share their personality while simultaneously maintaining their position as a respected model.

Consani is the perfect example of chaotic charisma. When asked, “What’s the secret to going viral,” she replied, “No secret. Just about being authentic…post it, why not?” Consani is unserious and unpredictable. Her true self shines throughout her beauty and personality. What’s not to love?

2024 “Model of the Year”

At the 2024 Fashion Awards, Consani was awarded Model of the Year, where she made history as the first female transgender model to accept the award. Consani’s brand is unapologetic identity as an advocate for trans rights, so her nomination and win established a move in the right direction for inclusivity and diversity in the modeling industry. During her acceptance speech, Consani specifically gave thanks to “Black trans women who really fought for the space [she’s] in today.” She ended her speech with a reminder and call to action that change is a never ending battle we must pursue. The honor to be awarded “Model of the Year” acknowledges all of Consani’s hard work, as well as her impact on challenging norms in the fashion industry.

During the Victoria’s Secret 2024 Fashion Show, Consani strutted down the runway in a light baby blue set with beautiful pillow-like wings. At the VS show, Consani and Valentina Sampaio made history as the first trans women to walk in the iconic Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Consani made an appearance at the 2025 Grammys where she can be seen strutting alongside Charli XCX during her performance. The “brat” lifestyle seems fitting for Consani, and it is only right that she showed out in a performance catered to the Gen Z party scene.

Vogue Beauty Secrets

As an avid viewer of the Vogue Beauty Secrets videos, I was happily intrigued and surprised by Consani’s video published in the beginning of January 2025. Usually, the videos focus on a celebrity showing their skincare or makeup routine, with a focus on the products. Unlike these typical Vogue videos, Consani’s Guide to Smoky Eyes & Bleached Brows gave more of an informational “why” type of tutorial. She gave detailed explanations of her makeup routine and the techniques she uses to get the perfect look. Her authenticity is perfectly displayed in this video. As viewers, we are able to watch her goofy and playful personality, but also enjoy her honest and vulnerable explanations of her routine and life. While applying highlighter to her under eyes to hide dark under eyes, Consani talks about her identity as a minority in the fashion industry as a trans woman. She states that there’s an “obligation to use [her] voice,” while discussing  trans and queer rights–  explaining how her novice experience in the fashion industry creates challenges for advocacy. Consani acknowledges that she feels pressure and responsibility to advocate for her community, but it was never her intention to be one of the leading spokespeople for the fashion trans community. She has made it clear that throughout her support for LGBTQ+ rights, she wants to speak on her personal experience, while still acknowledging and honoring trans women who came before her and paved the way for trans rights.

At the end of the video, Consani smiles as she describes how her queer and trans identity has helped shape her love for makeup and fashion. She describes makeup’s historic ties to queer culture to portray artistry and self expression. Consani’s identity as an artist compliments her love for makeup and fashion, furthering her connection to her community.

At the end of the video, Consani’s unhinged personality is showcased when she decides to “take a quick singing break” after finishing her chic, smokey eyeshadow.

Consani is the newest “it-girl” in fashion and social media. It is certain that we as consumers and followers have shifted our fashion preferences. We crave more realism and truth from the people and brands we follow. Today, there are many influencers or celebrities who have larger platforms than Consani’s, but don’t use it to expose their vulnerability or spread activism. Just because someone’s an influencer or model doesn’t mean they must participate in activism, but I believe that when given the audience, they should use it for good. It’s inspiring how someone so young and new in the fashion industry has already reshaped prominent obstacles for the queer community. In all aspects of her working and personal life, Consani always stays true to her vulnerability and playfulness.

Know her name and never forget it! Remember her historical accomplishments as the first trans model to win Model of the Year and walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Her riveting ability to combine personality and professionalism is seamless. Alex Consani is truly a light in the fashion industry– it’s inspiring to watch her be a forerunner for future generations of creators and models.
