Crop Top Queen: Get Taylor Swift’s Style!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Since moving to New York City earlier this year, Taylor Swift has seriously stepped up her fashion game. Luckily, her impressive street style and parade of adorable outfits is holdingtiding us over while we patiently wait for her fifth studio album, 1989, to drop on October 27.

Whether she is leaving the gym or meeting a supermodel BFF for lunch, Taylor always seems to look flawlessly putlled together. One of her recent wardrobe staples is the crop top and she pulls off the style very well. Instead of entering Coachella territory, Taylor manages to retain her signature classy and ultra feminine style while still having fun with the popular trend. Whether you love or hate crop tops, there is no denying that Taylor is rocking them in a way that is approachable and doesn’t show off too much skin.

When it comes to the tiny tops, she Taylor likes to pair them with high-waisted shorts or colorful skirts. Since we don’t all have Taylor’s her unlimited funds, below are some budget friendly alternatives to help recreate a couple of her outfits. Let’s start with shorts!

Taylor matches crop tops with shorts in a variety of patterns and textures (see pictures for inspiration below). She even performed “Shake It Off” at the VMA’s MTV Video Music Awards in a silver, bedazzled and fringed cropped ensemble last month. In the picture above, Taylor’s long-sleeved crop top and black ankle boots help to make this outfit a great transitional look for fall. As always, sheTaylor shows just the right amount of skin with her high-waisted shorts, and carries a classic handbag to complete the outfit. This dark green, ladylike bag provides the look with a nice pop of color and also works perfectly for the fall season. In case you don’t have $2,000 lying around to spend on her Dolce & Gabbana bag, this Sole Society satchel for under $60 should do the trick. Check out how to get this look for less with the links below:

Taylor also loves to pair patterned crop tops with matching skirts, and isn’t afraid to experiment with color, especially when it comes to her accessories (see pictures below). Outfits like these are perfect for the beginning of fall when the days are still warm, and they can be dressed up or down easily. The adorable look above from H&M is not only available online, but is also something that us college girls can actually afford! Making her way around NYC last month, Taylor accessorized the look with pointed metallic heels and a neutral toned leather bag. Convinced that Taylor loves crop tops? You should be! I can’t wait to see what else T-Swizzle has in store for us style-wise in the coming months.
