8 ‘Harry Potter’ Recipes for a Magical Halloween

It’s official, Halloween is just around the corner. With the season of spooks approaching, what better way to celebrate than with recipes inspired by the most magical book series! From drinks to desserts, here are a few recipes to try out at your next Halloween bash or when you’re just in need of a Hagrid-sized meal!

1. Pumpkin Juice

Of course we have to start with one of the most iconic drinks from the series! This unique blend is actually easier than you think to make at home, and just as delicious as it sounds in the books. There are a ton of recipes out there, but this one is the closest to the original you can get.

2. Butterbeer

The second of the iconic drinks featured in Harry Potter is a sweet and frothy drink with notes of butterscotch and magic that are sure to be a crowd pleaser. Butterbeer is a favorite of our heroes of Hogwarts and with good reason!

3. Meat Pies

Meat pies are a traditional English food, and no Harry Potter recipe list would be complete without them! Linked below is a recipe for a beef and potato pie, but there are also just veggie options out there for our magical vegetarian friends!

4. Chiddingly Hotpot

Though the name may sound strange, this layered stew hybrid has all the makings of a dish perfect for your Halloween feast! This hearty meal would keep any wizard or witch full whether you’re taming dragons or prepping for your N.E.W.T’s.

5. Pumpkin Bread

We can’t forget about our pumpkin treats for the Halloween season! This recipe combines pumpkin, typical fall spices and the extra treat of walnuts and raisins to satisfy your pumpkin spice cravings. Harry, Ron and Hermione surely snacked on this tasty treat while studying for exams or in between fighting Voldemort and his Death Eaters because even heroes need snacks.

Ahh yes, the infamous treacle tart, a favorite of the namesake hero. “But what exactly is a treacle tart?” you may ask. It’s a beautiful mix of syrup, cream and lemon all poured into a pie crust and baked.

These lil cuties are sweet cookie sandwiches with a creamy filling that are an absolutely suiting treat for Halloween! But don’t worry, these are nothing like the Canary Creams found at Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes; no tricks here!

Last, but certainly not least, of the recipes for a magical Halloween are the acid drops! This candy hails from none other than Honeydukes sweets shop in the town of Hogsmeade near Hogwarts. The other recipes are all great treats, but this one is the best trick because of its lip puckering effects! (Pro tip: add food coloring to the candy mix for fun colors!)
