Fall quarter isn’t always just the beginning of a new school year. For some, it can be the start of a brand new romance. But with this new love there can be a new level of stress when it comes to date ideas. However, San Luis Obispo is full of date opportunities, so keep these in mind when it’s your turn to pick the romantic activity.

1. Apple picking

Apple picking season runs from August to November, so fall quarter is the perfect time to visit a local apple orchard like SLO Creek Farms. When you arrive, you can walk with your date through the apple trees and pick your own fresh, organic apples that can be eaten right away!

SLO Creek Farms: 6455 Monte Rd, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, Open 10 AM – 5 PM

2. Avila Barn

Each year, Avila Barn hosts a pumpkin patch for the San Luis Obispo community. You and your date can admire the different pumpkins, navigate the hay maze, ride a tractor and pet some farm animals, like goats and miniature ponies. Don’t forget to stop by the bakery for a treat to share together.

3. Pumpkin carving

And speaking of pumpkins, get into the Halloween spirit by carving pumpkins with your date. Whether you want to turn it into a contest or surprise each other with your own creations, this is the perfect way to spend a night in together.

4. Halloween horror movie night

For lovers of horror movies, you can get even more into the Halloween spirit with a horror movie marathon. Show your date some of your favorites or watch classics like “Psycho” or “The Shining”.

5. Sunset Drive-In

If horror films aren’t your forte, head over to Sunset Drive-In for a unique movie night under the stars. Fall nights provide the perfect weather for curling up with blankets and watching a movie, so head over to the drive-in for an old fashioned date while watching the latest film releases.

Sunset Drive-In: 255 Elks Ln, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401

6. Art After Dark

On the first Friday of every month, local artists display their work around downtown San Luis Obispo. Art After Dark consists of more than 20 galleries and venues, allowing you and your date to spend a night exploring downtown together while enjoying some unique pieces of artwork.

7. Beach sunset picnic

While the nights slowly become cooler during fall quarter, the beach can still be a great spot for a date. Go to the store and put together a picnic basket with your date. Bring some towels and blankets and you can enjoy a picnic while watching the sunset on the beach together.

8. November holiday lights

It’s never too early to enjoy the holiday lights that appear on houses in December. As fall quarter carries on, more and more people will begin to break out their holiday decorations, so make a date out of exploring a new area and enjoying the early stages of the holiday season.
