7 Struggles of Being the Only Under 21 Friend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Whether you’re the young one in your class, or just have friends that are older than you, you’ll definitely relate to these feelings if you’re the only one under 21.

1. If you had a dollar for every time you heard, “You’re not 21 yet???”

You’d have enough money to buy all of the alcohol in the world.

2. “I’ll just stick with water”

You say to the waitress, and then steal a sip of your friend’s drink.

3. You feel like there’s a whole world you’re missing out on

Wine tasting, bars, happy hours, BRUNCH? What is all of this?

4. People in the class under you are now starting to turn 21

And your friends are turning 22…

5. You feel guilty about wanting to turn 21 so badly

I can have fun without alcohol right? RIGHT?

6. Social media has low-key become your enemy

Here are my friends wine tasting, here they are having drinks downtown, here they are HAVING ALL OF THE FUN WITHOUT ME.

7. You’re always the DD

I’m basically a free Uber.

On the bright side, once you FINALLY turn 21, every one will be there to celebrate with you! How many times have you heard that one…(hang in there).
