The 5-Step Spring Style Guide Every College Girl Needs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Attention Cal Poly ladies: the temperature is rising and the flowers are blooming—it’s springtime. While, to most people, this means more trips to the beach or the sun setting just a tad later, to us it means that it is time to store away the sweats and dig out those dresses. Trust me—I’m sad to see the yoga pants days behind just as much as anyone else, but have no fear, I have devised this style guide so we can be comfortable AND cute when acing those tests spring quarter.

Step 1: A fresh face

Springtime is the best time to rock that bright-eyed look. Tinted moisturizer is an essential component to this look; it’s a lighter alternative to a liquid foundation but still provides full yet natural coverage. Pair this with a little bit of brightening under-eye concealer, a rosey-pink blush and a swipe of mascara and you are set for the day. To look a little more done-up, you can add a dash of a light, shimmery eye shadow to the inter-eye, or a pop of color on the lips.

Step 2: A simple watch

Watches are an absolutely fabulous accessory to sport during the spring. They are super trendy and are also an easy way to make it look like you put more effort into your look. Every girl dreams of owning something as fancy as a Michael Kors watch, but for the Cal Poly girl, Forever 21 always has a wide variety of these watches. For spring, try gold or even rose gold to catch people’s eyes.

Step 3: A lightweight scarf

The glory of spring is that it is warm enough to show some skin but still cool enough to work one of the world’s best accessories—scarves! Pairing a light-colored tank top with a bright scarf is a perfect combination. Try sporting a pastel pink (or my personal favorite: yellow) for a pop of color that will go along with the spring scenery on campus.

Step 4: A sundress

We have kept all of those cute dresses tucked away for too long ladies—it’s finally time to break them out again. Rocking a sundress with any pair of boots is a wonderful option for a beautiful spring day. It looks like you put more effort into your look that day but it’s also really comfortable—just don’t forget to throw on a pair of Nike Pros on under your dress for when the wind kicks in!

Step 5: Anything floral

It is no secret that spring is the best time to strut anything floral. Whether it be a scarf, dress or even shorts, the best time to break out your floral patterns is no doubt the spring!

Combine any or all of these steps to have a perfect yet comfortable spring get-up to impress all those cute boys spring quarter. They are extremely simple, but you will be looking like the most fabulous girl on campus!
